Car takes longer to start up

Lately I've been noticing my car takes longer to start up When it's cold, once it finally warms up it turns on normally. I recently replaced the starter, battery and spark plugs about 1000 miles ago. I went to autozone to test out the battery and they told me it was a bad battery but also mentioned it could be saying that because they're not testing the actual battery itself (tested the clamps under the hood) could it be the battery? Or fuel pump? I had the battery installed about 3 months ago brand new so I don't think it can be the battery

Yea, takes about 4-5 seconds of cranking then finally turns over. If I turn off the car right after and try it again it cranks normally

I've had long cranks due to old injectors being shot or could be a HPFP issue. What index are your injectors? You should do some logging to see if your HPFP dips down on WOT.

Things to look at that may cause a long crank start up.

1) Spark plugs, if they are fouled with either oil or fuel, it will not ignite effectively

2) Injectors, leaking injectors will flood the cylinder and cause the AFR and compression to be off

3) HPFP, will take longer to create pressure. Causing insufficient fueling during start up

Winter time doesn't help... even for us in CA lol - especially when temps get down to 20-30* but 4-5 seconds send excessive. HPFP likely.

Sparks plug were replaced recently, along with ignition coils
Will check injectors but most likely sounds like my fuel pump

Hopefully you can figure it out! My HPFP lasted 97k miles before I sold the car. Currently still running strong with the new owner

Our 2006 E90 is doing this same thing, began about a month ago.
I replaced the battery, but that did not fix it.

Still have not found a solution, buddy was telling me it could be the ignition could since I only replaced 3 that were misfiring when I did the spark plug change. Think I'm going to start there and work my way down the possiblities. Praying it's not the fuel pump

I have determined that our 2006 325xi only has a hard time starting (long crank time) when the temperature is below freezing (either in our garage, or when we are out and about). This past week the temperature has been above freezing here in Denver, and our car has started fine every time. This leads me to believe there is some water in the system, potentially keeping the check ball open perhaps?

Let me know what you find.

I had smelled gas coming from the rear wheel well got it checked and it ended up being the fuel sending unit got it replaced and the cars been starting up fine for the past 3 days hopefully it stays like that

I am not familiar with a fuel sending unit.

Are you referring to the pump inside the tank?

Any chance you have a bmw part number for this unit?
