IS clutch/fly wheel install
I tried searching the site with key words hoping to find this info but no luck.
I've called a few shops and have got mixed opinions on the below set up. I'm going with an oem IS clutch kit from the dealer and made the decision to change the flywheel at the same time. One shop said luk flywheel is the exact same thing a BMW dealership sells but just in a BMW box. It's 950 for an aftermarket luk flywheel vs $2300 BMW flywheel. Not sure if the specs are different? Has anyone done the setup with luk flywheel and oem clutch kit and had any issues? Is it the same oem feel? Any rattle/vibrations? My vehicle is a 2008 335i Please let me know Thanks |

I installed the IS clutch kit in my 09 335i a couple years ago now after mine started slipping. The original FW was still in decent shape so I cleaned it up and left it in there. Other than the fact that the clutch doesn't slip anymore I really couldn't tell the difference.
Don't buy the IS Clutch kit from the dealer btw. You should be able to save a lump of money buying it from one of the online performance shops. If I recall correctly I paid less than $350US for kit excluding hardware (ie. replacement bolts, pivot pin, etc). |
