M Sport Steering Wheel swap
I have non-sport 328i, my steering wheel looks like the drawing a the bottom.
I want it to look like this ![]() So from reading the threads I need Sport steering wheel(with air bag bracquet, somebody sells them without) Airbag for sport wheel (non-sport 328i won't fit) Trim (without the M logo) Do I need the switches too? I estimate $400 for steering wheel Tischer $630 Airbag Tischer Trim $90 Tischer Switches (if mine can't be used $76) Is this Mod really over $1,000 Any lower prices out there?

You can sae $100 by getting the wheel from Ebay and look for a deal on the round airbag.

- Yes - and well worth it. If you're unsure, go to your local dealer, sit in a new M3 and fondle the wheel. - The Swede on ebay is usally a few hundred cheaper but when I tried that route he didn't have (1) the sport airbag or (2) the airbag bracket. Others have indicated that they were able to buy all necessary items from him. Good luck! |

true, it is a cleaner fit, but the gap is negligible with the stock cover.

True, the 1,000 dollars or so would best go to suspension/exhaust
However, my car is turning 1 year old in about a week and I already have 16,500 miles on it. It's my daily driver and I might appreciate the look/feel of the steering wheel a little more than some louder exhaust or stiffer ride.

if you don't care about the look as much as the feel, get a wheelskin (genuine leather cover stitched on) for 35 bucks. it makes the wheel thicker and it provides better grip. it doesn't look half bad either if you did it right. i did it as an experiment and i like the result.

Here you go. Note that I used blue, because the sample I got was darker, and in person it looks darker but not as dark as I thought. I did not do a perfect job at 6 o'clock, but 3 o'clock is perfect, 9 o'clock is ok. It took an hour to do, very easy. $35 shipped.
