Exclamation New Turbos

Took my car in today, to get my suspension and sway bars put on , but after reading some things last night about a rattling sound; I talked to the tech and as soon as I turned the car on and he heard the rattling sound he knew I needed new turbos . Thankfully, I am in Germany and language barrier is often a problem but he knew right away what it was.
Sucks though now I will lose my car for at least two days, but it will be fixed. I was the second car to come in with this problem.
Anyone else in Germany who is having this problem and the BMW techs dont know what it is, have them contact the dealership in Neumarkt and talk the the head mechanic. The guys in Bamberg didnt know and most of us thought it was just a heat shield rattling and not an issue, but apparently it is.
Thought Id you guys know.

Are you absolutely sure that they are going to give you new turbos or are they going to give you new actuator assemblies?

This is strange that BMW would release a company fix to the rattle that no one seems to know about. BMW in the U.S. put a stop on all repairs, ESPECIALLY turbo replacement, until the BMW fix was resolved.

I deal with a BMW owned dealer, so I'm not concerned about impropriety on their end. How do these franchise(?) dealers expect to get reimbursed for turbo replacements when BMW has rejected it as a solution?

The benefit of getting work done in Germany opposed to the U.S. probably. The parts are all in country. No need to wait or deal with excessive paperwork.

That is what the head mechanic was saying, or that I understood. I am the second car they have had with this problem.
All I want is peice of mind, if they spray WD40 on it and the noice goes away, great.
Though if they are going to have my car for several days, would be nice to have new turbos, to start over .
I imagine BMW just takes the turbos out and rebuilds them and one of us end up with them.

Cool Dave...What kind of rattling are you talking about? Are you taking about the same kind of rattling sound when you're turning off the engine? I get rattling as soon as I push the off button as the engine completes its last cycle. This is my 4th 335i and all 4 of them had that same rattling as you turn off the engine, including the one I have now. I think that's normal. Tell me about your anti roll bar (sway bar)...noticeably better?

V/r,
Chris

I didnt get my car back yet, they told me they needed another day to finish putting on my bars and springs and shocks.
I have the UUC Barbarian Front and Rear; and Koni FSD Shocks and Eibach Springs.
The vibrating sound is heard at low rpms, usually its easiest to hear it when in nuetral and I step on the gas.
Holygrail: let you know how the bars feel tomorrow when I pick my car up. There are some nice curves back from the dealership to test them out.

Let me know how you like the Eibach and Koni FSD setup. I used Eibachs and Konis for over 10 yrs. Let me know how they perform on the bimmer. I just don't know if I want to spend over $1G just to lower my car .6 inch. You do know that the sports package is already lowered .6 in and Eibachs lowers the front 1.2in and the rear 1 inch. So I don't know how much of a difference .6 inch lower center-of-gravity does to the car. Take it to the curves and take notes. Enjoy.

I just didnt want to go to low and take a chance of scrapping. I have to get over things. I can always get the H&R springs later.
