How to bung charge pipe hole
Hi there
I'm not happy with where I have tapped my metal charge pipe for my water meth injector, how would people recommend to seal this up? Thanks in advance |

If it was the metal portion, maybe get a tiny piece welded on it, that'd be the most reliable and durable one from what I'm aware
Where did you exactly tap in for the nozzle ? |

I did the same thing, ended up just welding it shut. There was some slag so I had to try to file it out. I could never get a good seal by just drilling and tapping the pipe itself, there wasn't enough threads for me to feel comfortable. I ended up cutting two 1"x1" pieces of thicker aluminum, welding it on, then drilling/tapping that. It helps me sleep a bit better at night.

I bought bungs all ready threaded to 1/8" npt, and then drilled the whole then welded it with an aluminum mig welder.
You can get the bungs at a local speed shop or EBay has them also. |

Good point on the lack of threads it is a bit concerning so I might just go this alternative route you suggest, sadly I dot have a welder or aluminium welder so I'll need my local garage to do the work.
I'll take a picture soon to show my not so good current placement. I didn't take in to account that the AEM nozzle has the one way valve all built in one to it, and so the pipe is doing too tighter bend going in to it. |

Finally got a picture uploaded! Basically I should have put a mark with a sharpie where I wanted to put the nozzle and then take the pipe off! Nothing like doing a hand hacking job twice...
The AEM kit is very new to me at the moment, only been running it for half a week so it's early days. I have the controller in the cubby hole below the headlight switch, so it's not moving anywhere or subject to extreme temps, hopefully this will help. I am sure if the older kits have had any degree of returns they would have improved it over time. |

I am awaiting the slating for the poor planning of the location, I am usually more organised that this!
Less choice of kits and distributors are available in the UK, which was part of the reason for my selection, also not all kits come the tank, which is an extra cost I didn't want to pay for separately. I think the leak is making it seem like it is really getting through the fluid, I have upped the start and full PSI settings to 10 psi and 30 psi to hopefully get a bit more range going forwards. As for fluid, just water for now while I recover from the spend, it will still steam clean the engine innards on it's own, yes?! I might consider making a mix, after some research and procrastinating. |

Agreed it did indeed weep due to the bend in the pipe as it stopped it from completely round when entering the fitting!
All sorted now, due to a lack of welder I have used an expoxy resin, a few layers of thin aluminium and two thick cable ties as an outer securing method. Not ideal but it should hold fine. It cures in five mins but I'll leave it overnight before a road test. |

Agh balls that's a shame! I haven't run my system with anything other than water yet but I guess I'll put it on the to do list to get it welded, will get a threaded boss at the same time while it's off.

Sorry I could not chime in earlier. After moving my boost tap location I had the same issues you did. We simply did this, still holding 41psi wide open. Make sure you use a good sealant meth compatible. I can agree this is a band-aid repair. But until my charge pipe comes out for the BOV this does well. |
