Good compact camera?Help~

I was thinking Canon S2 or Canon G9..any other suggestion? My budget range is from $300-$500.. and help would be appreciated!
And please no DSLR, this is for my mom.

I have the Canon SD700 IS and my girlfriend has the SD850 IS... They're both great cameras and I highly recommend them, or others in that series. Fairly inexpensive, very compact, easy to use, and most of all, they shoot incredible pictures for their class of camera.

I have not heard of the S2 but the G9 is not a compact camera. It is smaller than a DSLR but it's pretty big for a P&S camera. Go with the Canon 870IS- you'll love it.
