Updating DSC Module, Possible??
Hi All,
One of the things I've been chasing since recently getting an 07 335xi is figuring out what features I'm able to code on/off. I've accessed my DSC module and coded off the nannies such as the power reduction related to brake overheating. However, I was disappointed to find out that I do not have the FDB Dynamic Performance Control parameter as the later model xDrive cars have and would love to add this in for better handling. Is it possible to update the module and gain this parameter? The file I'm pulling from my DSC module is DSC8_RPA.C0D. When I look through the other versions of this file in NCS dummy it seems both DSC8_RPA.C0E and DSC8_RPAC0F have the FDB parameter I want. Is it possible to code one of these different DSC8 files to my car to gain the FDB parameter? Am I even thinking about this in the right way? Any help is really appreciated. Thanks! |

Hit Inpa, E90, functional jobs the UIF. Write down the ZB# for the DSC. Close Inpa, open winkfp, comfort mode, enter ZUSB, then enter the DSC ZB from Inpa. Write down of the ecu family that pops up...then hit cancel. While still In winkfp, click update ZUSB, click on the ECU family from the previous step then hit ok. Enter your vin under the "enter vin" button, hit done the "program ZB update". Let winkfp do its thing. DSC takes 10-12min so I'd have a charger or be jumped to a running car if i was you. Also, when you hit "program ZB update" if the pop up displays the same ZB number you took from INPA, click cancel, there is no update available for your module. |

I went through the steps you outlined and the final popup in winkfp before committing to programming showed the same ZB number (6783295) for both the ECU from UIF and Update. Also, INPA shows this module, and most others, have a date from 2011 so it appears the car was likely updated at some point. Really disappointed I can't add the Dynamic Performace Control to the older 335xi when it seems all of the hardware is the same as the post-LCI xDrive models. I wonder if it's possible to physically swap this module? Is it a separate ECU? Also, how do the different index versions of code work? Before I thought of it as updates but is it more correct to see it as versions for different model cars? It just seems strange that I have these later indexes but can't use them and I like to understand the background on how this works. Thanks |

Thanks, when working in NCS expert the module is called BDSC on my 335xi. When looking at code versions or ZB numbers in INPA and winkfp the ecu is called DXC890. Not sure if these names changed with the xDrives.

BDSC it is probably because it is Bosch-made, not Continental
DXC is common name of the Xdrive DSC module
