335i diff lock. Yes or no?

Hi

I am looking into a diff lock for my 335i. Is this a good idea?

Any advantages disadvantages?

Cheers

I haven't got a 335i but on my 335d it improved stability in a straight line a lot. Before when going at WOT it felt like the rear was veering off to the left, but as soon as i fitted the diff lock it sorted it out. Just felt a lot more solid and true and i had a better feeling/confidence of the rear. I would say it was a night and day difference for me. FYI my car produces 420bhp/618lb.ft but i have stock subframe bushes. I think if i had solid subframe bushes the effects of a diff lock would be less, as RajB may confirm.

There's a few versions out there. Some a lot more expensive than others. I got the "plate" version. Search vwetish on n54tech, he sells 2 versions (diff lock kit and diff lock plate) I bought it off him. Not expensive either.

I found a kit for pretty cheap. was just wondering if its worthwhile doing. My rear is all over the place, im doing 440hp/440lb so was looking into this an option. It will however become a daily when the mrs starts using it so didn't want any negative impact. but sounds worthwhile.

Missed this LOL.

With the M3 rear subframe bushes and the other mods I have it wasn't quite as noticeable BUT it still does help so on a standard rear end it would definitely be worth it.
