Help Help Please!!!

Does anyone know what this is, or what caused this please help. It feels different then the paint when I touch it. It's a little hard to see in the pics but my car is black and what I am talking about is the gray part. It looks almost like if my car got a tan and there was a sticker blocking that area and that's the outcome. I don't know what better was to describe it, I tried everything quick detailers and scratch doctor and even goo gone because i got really desperate. The scratch doctor hid it but after two days it came back. PLEASE HELP!!

Is the affected area raised above the paint, ie. Is there some sort of contaminant? Did you try claying?

read the sticky on how to detail. it explains claying very well. then go and buy a mothers or meguiars kit from walmart or target for about 15 dollars. their clay is fairly mild i think and it wont do any harm to try.

The next step would be to try polishing it out, but you might need help on that as doing it wrong could mess up your paint.

Two questions:

1. How new is the car?
2. Did you buy the BMW paint protection?
3. Did you buy the car off the lot and it might have the paint protection system without you knowing?

The reason I am asking these questions are due to the fact my parents old X5 had the same problem. They bought the paint protection system from BMW and they didn't buff or clean up one area. It looked exactly like your problem. They just took it to the dealership to get it fixed. I have no idea what they use, or the process that they follow therefore I have no idea what is needed to correct it. I don't want to lead you in the wrong direction if it is the BMW system.

If you answered no to all the questions I listed above then what arabbmw listed above is a great place to start. I would clean the car well, clay it, polish it, and put a good wax on. If you don't know how to do the steps youtube everything and read a lot, because now is the time to learn how to care for your car to extend its beauty.

Ha ha....no, I'm pretty sure it's not "cosmoline".

Like mentioned above, a clay bar would be your first step.

The gas or eggs would come off easily, but would etch the clear coat and produce something very similar to what you see.

Maybe a pelican hit the door with a bomb? Similar effect. Somebody puke out your window?
