Been looking at these for awhile. As long as it cools better than OEM I'd be happy.

Its tube and fin and has far greater area than standard. It would be a big struggle to get something better for cheaper. In fact youd struggle to get anything better for less than double the price from what i can see...

I'll see if I can organise a group buy...

Appearance counts for squat, and its difficult to see the wagner core up close on their site.

Do some logs with your oem core and under the same conditions do it with the new core fitted.

A loose pack like this chinese fmic will have plenty of flow, IMO the best design is a offset & staggered fin type core which has more effective cooling (twice the surface area and the flowing air coming into the core doesnt just merely flow through the staggered arrangement disrupts the airflow forcing it to cover more surface area of the fins.

There is a decent review and data logs of this intercooler over on the "other" BMW forum.

No OEM log though.

Can you share a link to that review?

I've never seen any links to that forum stay active on this forum.

If you search "Wagner style chinese intercooler" I'm sure it'll come up.

I'm currently waiting on the AMS intercooler copy from the same seller as well as a charge pipe and BOV. all for the resonable price of 350 english pounds. delviery has taken ages but should be with me next tuesday.

I think that if your not ging to be tracking your car these parts will be fine, only time will tell though!

I don't mind saving some dollars when I can but that intercooler is nasty. Trash it and get a decent one.

As far as I can tell it's a very accurate copy of a Wagner which sells for a lot more and performs better than some. The only difference I can see is that the Wagner has a diverting fin on the turbo side. The only photo of of the internal structure looks exactly the same as the one I bought. Does anyone have any photos of a genuine one for comparison?

One is designed and engineered in Germany then built with quality parts and the other is produced from low quality Chinese parts in China. Not saying all things made in China are bad but you get what you pay for with most things. Yes they do replicate products extremely well. In saying that downpipes are just pipes with welds. As long as the welds are done properly and it fits well then that's ok.

This was me 3 years ago.

Just chuck it in if it fits.

Read your logs and see if it's worth upgrading.

Lol, I've been modding for years and I've always listened to everyone's opinion and formed my own view. It's going in alright!
This is the only photo I've found of the Wagner internals (on the right) of you google wagner review you'll find that but it shows the internals of a very expensive German designed and constructed cooler. That looks EXACTLY like the one I bought sans divert fin.

If you don't like cheap intercoolers that's fine. If you think they're shit that's fine too. If you want one though and you're on the fence you are welcome to take a look at mine before I put it in

core doesn't look that dense as others have pointed out.

wonder what Chinese quality control is like? wouldn't like left over bits of metal from the manufacturing process going into your motor....

No signs of any debris or foreign matter. Powder coating finish is very good with smooth coverage
