On the Hunt for an M47

Hello all,

I am on the hunt for one of the earlier (1999)M47 engines. I'm not sure if they were ever sold in the U.S.

Should have iron block, aluminum head, and VP??? injection pump.

Plans are to install an A-pump and lean on it a bit.

Thanks

Arch

1999 M47 have weak crankshaft rod
M47N have slightly upgraded and M47N2 is better
if you need old dumb engine with VP pump - consider M51, it is very reliable

No M47 engines in the USA/CA. Might be a few X5/X3 European build cars with them running around, but that's it (since they would have been built in SC.)

We can fix the rod issue. I want the aluminum head M47. Installing an A-pump or VE on the M47 will be a cake walk compared to the M57. If only they had offered the M57 for one year with any type of mechanical injection.

I knew they were only offered over seas. Just thought someone may have had one shipped over and didn't use it.

...and I would take an M51 as well. I don't like the IDI part, but, they can be arranged for power production.

you can buy cheap head with block and pump but without crankshaft (somewhere 100-200 eur) in europe
or complete for somewhere 1000-1500 eur and mileage of the engine will 200000-300000 kms
shipping to US also will cost some $$$

Arch, fellow member Whitbread has Europe connections. He might have intel on a U.K. based M47. He's working on a 330d manual swap going into our 335d. It's all about networking
