T1R's

Hey all: I'm replacing the stock RF's on the wife's 325i with T1R's. Anyone done this? (Specifically, anyone done this with that car and had them on for 1000+mi)I'm putting RA1's on my M5, but she doesn't drive like I do, so I don't think she needs something that aggressive. She was actually ok with the RF's, but I'm thinking the Toyo's will be a much better overall tire for 1/2 the $.

You like T1R on your M5?? I found it suck on my M3 comparing to ps2/F1 that I tried.

Lots of members run Toyo T1Rs and are very happy with them! I'll be switching to those or Falken FK452s for my next tire....they're both affordable and offer great performance!

No, I have the RA1's, which have to be the baddest M5 tire made. Had PS2's previously. Nice, but not in the same (R) league as the RA1's.

It seems like the opposite. A lot of members have had/tried T1R's and most as well as myself have found they are not worth the money.

i would personally take Goodyear GS-D3 over T1R's in a heartbeat. The wear on the T1R's is horrible and i've had friends that dont even track and barley get 10,000miles out of the rears of their T1R's.

I had T1R's on my s2k and I hated them, but I guess if they are for your wife to get from point A to point B then it may not matter all that much.

I actually have the T1Rs on my E92 now and satisfied with them so far. Problem is for me is the tire wear, I probably put less than 10,000 miles and the rear will probably last another 2000 to 3000. I think I will trade up and get the PS2 even though the thread wear is 220 compared to 280 on the TIR. Funny thing is, I have the T1Rs on the Acura TSX and those have been the best tires on that car. Asking around, it seems that the T1Rs or Proxes 4 seem to be great on front wheel drive car and so so for cars that are rear wheel. Just a personal observation

If she's okay with the RF's, why change? If she gets one flat tire.....

I like my T1Rs, they are quiet and price is fair. But yeah the tread is pretty bad. I am considering switching over to BFGoodrich g-Force KDW2...

you're using RA1's as your daily driver tires?

If noise is an issue for you i really suggest you do not get the KDW2s.

lol, i just caught that right now. RA1's are track tires. I know you drive aggressively but i really doubt that you need RA1's for the street. Im not trying to hate or anything but it honestly seems like overkill and you might as well save yourself money and get some PS2's or something that is daily-able.

1) They're twice as much $
2) How many people ever really deal with flats? (Yeah, I'm sure it'll happen *now*)
3) We have AAA
4) Pretty much *anything* is gonna ride/perform better than the RF's.

Oh heck yes. I live on a windy, SoCal mountain road that R&T, Motortrend/etc test on. I've got the car, I've got the road, might as well have the tire.

The PS2's cost the same or more than the RA1's. (Although they will last longer) As I said in another post, I live on one of the best "BMW roads" on the planet, and I want every bit of performance I can get.

as long as you have the funds I use RA1's as my track tire for my 350z. They're great once they get up to temp

Don't really have the funds, but some things ya just gotta do. You're right about the "up to temp" thing. I leave my house like an F1 driver, swerving back & forth down my road. My neighbors must just figure I'm drunk.

Love the T1R's on my MINI, at least when the temperature suits them. (-10C here today, needless to say I removed the summer wheels last weekend to make it through the dump of snow received here every day since Saturday)
Would not hesitate to try them on the E90 when the runbricks wear out.

I am in the same situation, however, will AAA bring us a spare that fits our BMWs?

Don't know. Brand new AAA member. The car's under the BMW Roadside Asst too. Not sure which one to call. I'm sure AAA will at least tow us somewhere.

I didnt like them very much at all. They were poor in rain too. Did you see the Tirerack test comparing them to a bunch of other tires? I think the Goodyear F1-D3s are much better...I have them on my car now.

Oh man... I've been following this thread since its inception and I'm so confused now.

Was looking at T1Rs and PS2s. Also considering GS-D3s.

confused now.
