I would think it would stall the car pretty quick with that much back pressure.

They are actually pretty useful and thought out pretty well...
So they are reasonably safe, and no they don't make the car die... Remember where we live, this thing has the lawyers stamp of approval. Besides, ever try to use a jack on a muddy road??? It just doesn't work, BUT the Airbags will.

Well you can also use a Shop vac on Blow I imagine so car exhaust isn't a requirement. But if you are in your garage it would be really handy to be able to lift 1/2 your car, place your proper jackstands, and then settle the car on the jack stands.
No worries about body panels as you place the entire thing under the car and with it's wide footprint it distributes the load fairly evenly. Mostly though they are good for emergencies out in soft soil, wet grass, soggy shoulder they are the bomb.
