Why run E85?

E85 is so good!
Here's a bit of knowledge I've picked up over the years.
I thought it might be good for new users to find out why some people swear by e85.

I'm not a tuner and only have limited knowledge but I know pump fuel doesn't make enough power for me and e85 is the only way for me.
Point it out if you think any figures or numbers are wrong.

Just FYI

Tuning on pump fuel is limited to the engines octane, cooling and a lot more I don't know about.

Pump fuel is generally tuned around 5-7 degrees advance and around 17 psi on stock turbos. Stock turbos are tiny and get pretty hot which is an issue in itself.

When you add mixes or full e85 your fuel pumps need to work much harder.

The hpfp seems get to around 550-600hp on e85.
Stock lpfp is only good for around e30on a stock car.
Even if your fbo you will only make around 250kw on pump fuel.
To make more power requires more e85.

To do this for a stock turbo n54 is reasonably cheap and easy.

Buy a stage 1 or stage 2 lpfp (walbro 255 or 450 pump)

I'm not sure how much e% you can get to on a stage 1 but it will be very close to E85 and you can definitely use e85 with a stage 2 pump.
This will allow around 12 degrees of timing and as much boost as your stock turbos can handle.

Using e mixes or e85 you can expect your 250kw to raise close or over 300kw.

Even if your not looking for a new record getting a basic lpfp upgrade can allow you to more ethanol which is cleaner combustion, cooler cylinder burning which allows more power.

Your car obviously needs to be tuned for the ethanol content.
Most of the tuners around, twisted, ptf, wedge, buraq, Trebila can sort you out for a ethanol mixed or e85 tune.

Give e85 a go!

Plan to run e85 mix. Heard 30-40% e85 to 93 octane works well

My car loves E85!!

I run E50 on oem turbos and its totally worth the inconvenience! IT really woke the car up and bumped power up from 270 ish rwkw to 316rwkw on the advan dyno

Here's a funny story about E85.

So about 4 weeks ago I got pulled over for a RBT and had to count to ten into the tester. The result was equivalent to me being heavily intoxicated however I was completely sober and hadn't had a drink at all. The cop then went to show the other officers and they were all shocked by the result. He came back to the car with 3 other cops and starts questioning me about whether I have had a drink or not and proceeds to get the old blow into the plastic tube tester which showed a zero blood alcohol reading. He was a little confused at this stage so I blew into another tube and again zero reading so all was good. His last comment was there's something about your car that triggered an extremely high alcohol reading. I just said yeah that's really weird and acted dumbfounded while I knew my car absolutely reeks due to its setup.

Short answer is the removal of 4 c@ts and a E70 mix can be detected via a RBT unit without them knowing why.
