Hi,
Is that normal sound of N54, when its cold? It's totally gone after 2-3minutes. Sounds like this, at the morning. stops, goes silent when I add a little gas. Back when idle decrease. it's not depend on rpm Last edited by james4321; 03-16-2017 at 04:29 PM.. |

UP.
Today, I recorded a video with that ticking noise. And: Its like some electrical device. I can hear It only at driver side, not from the engine - from under the air filter. It stops when I press the gas pedal and returns when idle. Stops after few minutes, and comming back next morning. |

It sounds like an injector. But to be sure, can you get a video of it while blipping the throttle just a bit? It might be wastegate rattle, but it's hard to tell with just a straight idle video. If it's an injector there's a video on youtube of a guy showing you how to diagnose which injector it is. You'd need to replace the injector and have it coded in, or just have the dealer replace it.

At the monday I'll replace that valve. As U can see, near by engine is silent. When I take camera close to air filter, where is that valve, there is louder. If I take a little throttle, stop ticking until 600rpm idle. I'm talking about #2 video, because is mine. Last edited by james4321; 03-17-2017 at 05:43 PM.. |

For few last months I've got SES (Fuel vent tank micro leak). I think, that It'll be cause of my SES - wrong work of that valve.

Perfectly normal. If it goes silent after a throttle blip - it's functioning normal.

My dealer said, that I have to replace Ventilation Tank Valve - Is that true?
Because If U said its normal... Am I really have to do this? It is possible, to that valve cause error code: fuel ventilation tank micro leak and SES? Last edited by james4321; 03-20-2017 at 12:46 PM.. |

IDK what it's called but the ticking noise that goes away after a throttle blip is a normal characteristic of this car. If you have a CEL then there still may be something else wrong. Sorry to be so broad but this car is so gray at times with its quirks. |

I had the same thing for years and finally resolved it - I used Liqui Moly 5w-30 and no more tick, oil starvation is causing this, I dont know what everyone else above is talking about
I have a thread about it, another guy attested to this also - our local Napa store has Liqui Moly oils & they dont give me a share for advertising

...their first product, MoS2 oil additive, contained the solid lubricant molybdenum disulfide, which allowed engines to run for a short period of time without oil, which was perfect for emergency situations. What is molybdenum disulfide? Molybdenum disulfide in its natural form is similar in feel to graphite–the same, slippery stuff found on the tip of your pencil. |
