M235i
Recently bought this beast. Forgive the 2 series content on the e90 forum, but there is really no other quality forum to talk to!
It's a cracking car. Small, agile and the motor is ridiculous. Tried it in sport plus and ended up sweaty and scared to be honest. Back to comfort asap! The tech and interior is a big step up from my e90 330d. I can stream via Bluetooth and get album art on the screen without a cable now, whereas before it had to be connected by cable for the art. It's got Xenon adaptive headlights with the high beam assist which are fascinating to watch... When you should looking where you're going! Anyhow, thought I'd let you know. This forum has been a real resource for me during my ownership, so I'll be loitering in the background in case I can shove me two Bob's worth in anywhere. I've learned a lot that I can share, I hope. 🤔 |

M235i's are very nice cars, took me 14 months of daily searching to finally find a late LCI 330D M Sport E92 manual car (eventually found one of the last BMW made with a great spec) but during much of that search I was looking at alternatives thinking I'd never find one and the M235i was at the very top of the alternate car list. Totally different to my 330D of course but both very good cars, fast forward a few years and there's a very high probability I'll be driving the replacement M240i I think. Opted for the 330D in the end as I do such a large commute to work and spend 95% of my time on motorways, 330D is perfect for that (plus the E92 seats are much better and with the small tank in the 2 series/mpg of the M235i I'd have been filling up every 3 or so days which just gets annoying). Enjoy the car, should be lots of fun!

Congratulations, I suspect your glad you didn't buy that old oil burner now
You should take it to take it to Santa pod & see if it'll do a sub 13 sec 1/4 mile I'm going to have a test drive in a M235i at some point during the summer & providing there's enough legroom one of these will be replacing my 335i once the prices come down a bit, I've never paid over £13500 for a car.

I'm in a similar situation. Looking at switching from my E92 335D to a M135i. Test drive today will determine my next move, if any. My 335D is by far the best car I have owned and that includes a 490bhp B5 RS4!

I was very slightly underwhelmed on my first test drive. You miss the torque of the diesel (more so from a 35d). However, once I'd adjusted and let her rip, I was giggling like a 55 year old schoolboy. Not had this much fun since I drove a friends m3 years ago. Give it a chance and it will impress. Put it in Sport, Open the windows, turn off the radio!
