Question v3 installs at Bimmerfest 08

Hi guys,
Dustin and I are thinking about coming down to Bimmerfest again this year to check things out and perhaps to do plug 'n play v3 installs. We hope to have the Homelink map switcher working and available by then as well. Between the two of us (maybe a third if we bring along PROcede girl v3), we could probably whip off 5 or 6 installs/road tests during that afternoon. Anyone be interested?

I am interested if I can have mine upgraded from V2 whether its with the extra wire pack or the plug-in harness. Mine is a booth car if it makes a difference.

It's a small module that plugs into the plug 'n play harness's expansion port and sits next to the PROcede. We then program the Homelink's universal remote to active the radio controlled module. Button 1 activates map 1. Button 2 activates map 2. You will have button 3 left over for your garage door opener if you actually use that feature. If you don't want to use Homelink for map switching, there is a key fob that you can use to switch maps. Real easy.

And yes, this feature will be available for those not using the plug n play harness as well

Brilliant solution. I'm assuming the radio communications via homelink will be somehow secured and/or unique per car? Would hate to have someone switch maps without my knowledge.

lol... i am guessing the homelink will be a wire based signal, not a radio wave type signal? that would be funny pulling up to a v3 proceded car and reving on them and putting them into valet mode right before the light turns would be a hilarious pinks episode!

F'ing sweet! Who needs a garage door button anyways. I want to hear more about this key fob... Like the BMW key fobs?

The system is remote controlled. And it is also secure. There are several different frequencies so the likelihood of meeting up with another PROcede owner and switching each others maps by accident is slim.

According to Shiv's post, it'll be radio controlled. See below:

How about map persistence? Will a recently selected map persist during a power cycle?

It looks like we'll have time to do maybe 3 or 4 v2-to-v3 updates. And as many as 10 plug 'n play PROcede v3 installs during that day. We will also set-up the remote control switcher to work with Homelink if desired. I'll post up special Bimmerfest 08 pricing info tomorrow

Cheers,
shiv

We can make the switch operation persistent simply by providing constant power to the unit. However, what i do in my car (and what i suspect most people will do) is have the default map (map 1) be a standard 7/10ths performance map (I call it the Dinan map ) And map 2 (switchable by either keyfob button 2 or Homelink button 2) be the high performance map.

The valet map can already be induced just as it is right now with v3 by setting the rpm threshold just after start-up.

We could also make a map that has the valet map as the default map if so desired. So many options.
