E61 545i
Having recently gotten ourselves a dog it would be nice if we could take him out with us in a car, rather than having to use the van. So I'm thinking of selling my 335i.
I've been looking around but don't really want to spend much more than what I'd get for the 335i, i don't think I want a e91 335i but I have seen a very nice 2004 e61 545i sport on auto trader, it's done 60k & is up for £7990. Has anyone had one of these & or has any input about what they are like to live with, issues reliability etc.

Friend of mine had a 645i. The v8 sounds lovely but it is thirsty. (Like 21mpg average).
They do have a habit of leaking cooling lines that sit within the V. Costs about £1000 to fix. |

Thanks guys.
I've had a quote of a £1000 to put a BMW warranty on it & £100 per claim, which is a bit of a gamble as to whether it'll go wrong & cost more than that in repairs per year. As for fuel costs, I had a e39 540i (4.4) & I didn't think that was to bad on fuel & I suspect the e61 would be similar. Am going to have a drive up to have a look at it. Only downside I can see is that the techs a bit old hat now & it's not the best of lookers, although it does look better than the e60. Thanks for the replies. |

Unfortunately the e61s not going to happen. Before driving 60ish miles to view the 545 I took the missus to have a look & drive of a 530i being sold locally & apparently a 5 series tourer is to big
She then says on the way home that we should just put a blanket on the back seat of the 335 for the dog

Agreed - my other half says the same about me putting our Rottie in the M3. Not going to happen.
