Question Has Anyone Painted There E92 328 Sport Rims?

Hello friends. I just saw an Black E92 328i while on my way to work. He painted his factory sport rims black and had the really thin red lip. (I know there's a word for the really thin painted lip, not sure what it is though). It looked amazing. My question is, has anyone painted there's too? I have an AW E92 328i w/ sport package. I'm really interested in doing the same but with a white skinny lip. I was just requesting some pictures or comments on what people think.

P.S. Remember I'm a noob, so don't be to hard on me if I asked a stupid Question...

Thx, 3urger328i

I think the skinny lip on the rim is called Time Attack. What color were you going to paint ur rims if you did? The sport rims look very good in my opinion. I like it better the the 335 rims.

they are called time attacks ... they usually look like this. make sure you use a good shop when painting your wheels because the paint has to be cured in a high temperature oven so that it hardens and cures properly. if not it wont stand up to the harsh conditions that your wheels are subjected to (heat from brakes, scratches, etc)

I'm 75% thinking about painting them black with white "Time Attack" (Thanks for the info) and 25% leaning towards painting them white with black "Time Attack". I totally agree with you about the 335 rims vs. the 328 rims. But maybe because I own the 328...LOL

I think what u saw was a set of Time Attacked CSL reps, they look almost identical to the 328 sport rims. And yes they look very good, The CSL's are what im looking to get for my red 328, black with the red pin stripe.

Sounds like the same process of powder coating. I don't know much about wheels, but in the high-end aluminum bicycle frame market, re-heating is a big no no. So I guess my question would the integrity of the wheel hold up after this process you speak about?

^ Powdercoating and painting wheels are too very different things. I would go with powdercoating to prevent chips, but I guess if you want a "time attack" style'd ring then you would either have to go with paint or just use vinyl over a wheel that was powdercoated. In any case, I'm not a fan of any timeattack wheels aside from traditional TE37's and CE28n's in flat black with a redlip, let alone painted OEM wheels. I think it will look out of place on those wheels, but that's just me.

If you do decide to paint them though then at least get some spacers for the rear.

Just got rid of those 328 sport rims , thank God. Not sporty and takes a hour and a half to clean. They look good for a 40 year olds car so I got these. 1000000 times sportier and hella more compliments.
Bam no comparison
