2017 Ford Raptor

I am thinking about getting a Raptor and am finding a few things difficult and frustrating.

(1) Allocations: If I am spending that much on a truck I want it exactly like I prefer so it is looking like I have to order. Right now, dealer says they cant even place the order for 90 days then another 3 to 4 month wait. Basically its December 2017 before delivery.

(2) Premium Pricing: Every dealer I have spoken to is asking for a $10K premium over sticker.

WTF, it is a truck, not a Ferrari.......venting.

Is this consistent with others that have been looking at Raptors?

It's a Bro-Dozer, and it's a huge source of revenue for US auto manufacturers. People love buying 65-80K trucks and it's like shooting fish in a barrel for the auto manufacturers. Right now Wall Street is worried about the bro-dozer bubble, but that doesn't keep people from buying them and the makers would most certainly like to sell you one. http://www.businessinsider.com/wall-...r-loans-2017-3

I'm not saying you don't have the money or anything, just that this is a pretty captive market right now and they can't crank out enough of these.

Try Galpin Ford in Cali... I hear nothing but good things about them. Plus they are the top Ford franchise in the USA.

I understand your frustration; but at the same time you are essentially talking about the Ferrari of US Trucks... It is the most sought after Truck in the US market; so yeah, they aren't going to give them away.

I went through this same issue. Everyone wants over sticker for them. However I did find a dealer with allocations last month. I was straight up that I wouldn't pay over sticker. They finally agreed and I have a Vin for my build 3 weeks from now. Shoot me a PM and I'll give you dealers contact info. Can't promise they have any left though.

I got 4k miles on my '17 raptor so far and am loving it overall. I got 1500 under sticker on mine but put in a very early order and have a good relationship with the dealer. I also am getting my friend one right now from them at msrp as it was a cancelled order. the dealership is buying from other dealers at msrp and selling for a coupla grand over, so yes, the market is stupid on them right now. I think next year there will be plenty and msrp will be easy, but doesn't seem to always be the case. I'm in oklahoma btw...if I can try to help you with a truck I'm happy to do so

My close friend just got one. He has driven it 10k miles in a few months. We have offroaded on trails, dunes and even jumped it. Awesome truck.

Supply and demand. The local dealers can't keep them in stock here and they're going for 10-15k over sticker. For the most part, you got to pay to play.

Friend of mine bought a '15, the Fox shocks needed to be rebuilt prematurely. Ford wouldn't help him. He now has a '17 he paid under MSRP for.

My buddy just picked one up, great truck everyone he looked at on the lot was fully loaded with every box checked. It's a great truck the technology in it is amazing but yea I think he wound up paying 8k over sticker but he wanted it now so it was worth it.

UPDATE:

Im talking to a local dealer now that has one coming in pretty close to what I want. They wanted $15K over MSRP. Via text we are down to 10.9K over sticker.

Im going in to see them tonight, if they will get to a number a bit lower I will probably do it. It appears as though paying over MSRP is pretty much a must on these.

That's exactly my point. Everyone has different wants. Obviously it's not worth it to some to pay over sticker. Some people will pay it because to them it's worth it. The new Ford Raptor is probably one of the hottest automobiles in the market right now. Yeah some dealerships might let them go for retail and if you know someone you might get lucky and get a discount. But for the most part these trucks are going to stay pricey for awhile.
