White film/residue on my chrome trim - Clay bar?
Will clay bar take care of this? It is the chrome trim near the Hoffmeister king, and it has some type of white film/residue on it. Water and terry cloth towel won't take care of it.
What are your suggestions to get this crap off? |

Do you have a picture? It is raised above the surface? Try the clay, just make sure you have a lot of lube. Paint, tar, wax? it is White?
I would try a microfiber with car soap first, then a wheel cleaner, maybe a chrome polish if you don't think it is a surface contamination, then I would go to the clay. |

I've heard Scratch-X works, too. I don't think clay will help, if it's the kind of "cloudiness" I'm thinking of.

Clay won't work. I wouldn't use a wheel cleaner on uncoated aluminum. Like MTL Bimmer said, chrome or aluminum polish (I like mothers mag & aluminum polish) will clean it up. Remember to use a little elbow grease. FWIW, it will come back; oxidation is the name of the game with uncoated metals.

Just go stright to a chrome/metal polish and be sure not to hit the paint as much as possible. I have used the OTC Mothers polish and it works well.
