M dynamic drive in iDrive in a 2009 335i

I activated the mdrive option in my cic but the individual settings are missing but is it possible? It seems that because the 1M has the options and the 335i has and the same or similar dme that it is possible ?..
Has anyone seen it done ?

You can add it into iDrive, but it's not going to do anything without the MDM unit itself.

Read this, but remember this is retrofitting an M3. I wouldn't even want to guess how much this would cost on a 335i.

I've read that thread and basically it's the cost of a steering sensor and some coding..........

And the control unit itself. Don't forget the M3 comes with a lot of this stuff standard that the 335 doesn't. In the M3 you're basically just enabling it. In a 335, you'd have to add the entire setup. Not cheap.

Hmm when I read about the place cars without MDM just need the sensor and the coding and there's no mention of a module. My understanding is that it's software driven from the dme? A kind of DTC calibration ?

I was under the assumption there was some more hardware to be added. Who knows, though it's not something I've really looked into (sans for reading the thread I quoted)

Another thread about it..

So today I noticed that the menu I had activated in CIC had some options

They seem to correspond the same as on an M3 with DCT.

Some functionality is certainly possible, but complete functionality is not possible without hardware changes in my opinion.

M Dynamic Mode (MDM) for instance is a function of the DSC module. The 1M uses a different ECU (DSCM80) than your E92, which likely has a DSC90.

Servotronic will certainly not work if the vehicle isn't equipped with EPS. Like the DSC, ECU differences are possible.

With regards to the DME, there are 1M-specific MSD81 firmware releases.

Is it possible to flash the 1m dme onto a 335? And is it physically possible to install the 1m DSC ?

Where should I be looking for information. So I don't have to bother other people with questions ?

Sorry I forgot to say thanks for your input! I woke at 4am and decided to browse the net and I was half asleep.

I'm mainly interested in Drivelogic which is to do with the DCT gearboxes. Nearly all e and f series DCTs use the same computer to run them. That includes the M3. There's 26 zb's in my daten folder....how can I tell which is which ?

Drivelogic and shift lights will also never work as those are specific to the DCT hardware and software, and I'm 99% sure the 335i DCT firmware is totally different than the M3's. Not even sure if it can be flashed to M3 specific. There are lots of different firmware issues here.

This is a largely fruitless endeavour.

I respectfully disagree. the way to flash a DCT to 135is spec is via winkfp (I've done this) and you're just uploading the firmware to GS40 which is the same module as the M3 when they upgrade to GTS spec.
One guy has actually done it on N54 Can't find it for the life of me now but it can be done.
The rest after that is going to be the hard part. We want the shift speed and the adjustability of the M3 calibration with the shift points of a 335/135.

The part numbers for gearbox and mechatronics unit are the same. The GWS and DSC are different.... these are not insurmountable challenges.....
