Carly adapter - terrible CS
Hey everyone,
I am writing this post mostly to vent about the experience I had with dealing directly with the Carly website and their customer service. Let me preface this by saying that much of my gripe revolves around me requesting the $5 discount for purchase through Amazon that many forum members have participated in and had success with. The fact of the matter is, yes, it is only $5. BUT.. the principal of how the events transpired really burned me up. Here is a step by step summary of how my interaction with Cary went. Also, I do understand that they are based out of Germany and there is a time delay in responding to my email of about 1 business day. May 28th - Amazon price was $74.90, date of request for $5 discount as posted on forum. April 30th - first follow up email - no reply April 2nd - 2nd follow up email - no reply April 3rd- Amazon price adjusted to $78.90 April 6th code for $5 received, same day inquiry about the price increase April 9th - inquiry again about price increase April 11th - inquiry about price increase April 12th - reply: "We don't offer discounts for apps or adapters, Sorry ![]() Respond with information explaining I was already provided a code, and explaining how it was suspiciously timely that they increased the price. No reply. April 18th - inquiry again but with more elaboration about my frustration on their lack of responsiveness. Look - I get that I am being a little frugal about the cost of this stupid thing. It's already annoying that you could buy a $20 blutooth or wifi code reader instead of their now almost $80 device. They have recently taken action to update the software so that only their devices will be able to unlock the fullest extent of their coding capabilities and that any other device will have either limited or no connectivity (from what I have read - no first hand experience). On the one hand, I understand they are in the business to make money and they have taken moves to maximize their profit and if I want their service I should just suck it up and pay the price. But, I am peeved about the timing and the overall experience. And all in all, this is just a long windbag rambling about a guy who didn't get his now $10 on a stupid wifi dongle. Anyway, just wanted to share my experience with the rest of community and vent my frustration. Carry on with your regularly scheduled program. End Rant. |

You don't have to use Carly. It's just an over-priced app for people who don't want to learn how to use the proper software.
I tried the software when it was called BMWhat, I just used a free cracked version to do some coding but found it really slow and ended up learning to use NCSExpert instead. |

You could always give it try and see if you like it. If you buy it on amazon you may or may not find that the adapter does or "does not match the website description" and then can request a free return that basis.

I've had to contact Carly support a few times with issues and they replied within a day and always sorted out the issues I had. I chose Carly since I could not for the life of me get ANY version or variation of other software to install into any of my computers. Someday I'll attempt it again, but for my purposes, Carly has been a solid purchase (software and their branded BT adapter).
