help me with my alignment specs....
335xi 2013 coupe all stock
here are my current alignment specs... can i go any tighter on anything? i like the current setup the steering feels very precise but can i tweak the toe a little more? also will removing the alignment pins for camber be worthwhile and how far can get the camber by removing the pins? i am preparing to put on new shocks and springs but i want to get the alignment dialed in 100% before and after so i can see what affect it has LF RF -0.30 CAMBER -0.29 -0.02 TOE -0.02 TOTAL TOE 0.04 STEER Ahead 0 (what does this mean?) LR RR -1.34 CAMBER -1.39 0.05 TOE 0.04 TOTAL TOE 0.09 THRUST ANGLE 0 what does this mean? thanks |

Although I see where you are coming from, I would think you should be waiting until all your new suspension equipment is installed first before doing alignments. Removing the alignment pins will net you barely half a degree of upfront camber. Thrust angle of 0 is exactly what you want. Check out this helpful guide to understanding alignment:

Changing camber also effects toe, but changing toe only will not effect camber. Increasing negative camber causes toe to go negative. If you pull the alignment pins for that extra -.5* camber you'll end up with -.15* or more of toe-out and you'll need to re-align the toe back to 0.00-0.10 toe-in. my car is a dd but i found a big difference in these current setting than the stock xi alignment both in turn in feel and feel at the steering wheel
so basically i would like to see if i can adjust toe or camber a little more to improve turn in and or to help with grip at front of vehicle |

Pulling the pins will definitely give you an advantage, but likely won't be enough for your intended style of driving. I would absolutely look at either fixed or adjustable camber plates as that's where you'll likely see the biggest bang for the buck though...not sure which brands/models offer compatibility with the xi, so you'll have to search that out.
As for toe, agreed; get your camber squared away (you'll likely want somewhere north of 1.5* minimum up front) then set toe up front to 0. |
