Compression tests?

Can the dealer do an electronic compression test? Has anyone done it the hard way? Does the direct injection nature of the car make it any different? I imagine it might.

We did ours the old fashion way. Standard compression tester. All spark plugs removed. Unplug the connectors to all the fuel injectors. 6 cranks and measure.

How did you manage to get consistent cranks, does the starter ever give up after pushing the button or did you hit it a second time to stop it.
