Long term downpipe fix without JB4? (Not for emissions)
Recently had the thought of playing with the car again. I'll put the downpipes back in, but don't want the JB4. I know there was a good DP fix around, but I have seen that it was mainly just for a quick emissions test. Anyone have an idea that can be used for a year or more without any hassle?
Thanks,

but honestly... you're best off with some sort of tune or something similar to JB4 for the downpipe. your car will run better and performance will improve. |

The link is for the N55 DP Fix which I think he's aware of. Issue with leaving N54 DPFix in for long time is that it can skew your AFR. It combines the signals from the banks I believe. Don't know if that would be a problem on the N55. Don't the tunes all disable the monitor? If you don't care about emissions, that should work.

Can't MHD just disable the O2 monitor? I thought that was how the flash tunes dealt with this. Then temporarily use DP Fix if emissions are a problem. Or depending on state, you could pass emissions even with monitor disabled.

Yes the MHD will hide the CEL and supposedly can pass emissions.

I have the N55 DP fix because I was running a catless DP and PPK flash while waiting for MHD to come out.
Emissions testing in most places looks to make sure you have no trouble codes, and also that your emissions readiness monitors show as ok. This is what the readiness check looks like on my OBD scanner. First pic is after successfully installing the DP fix, second is a few days later after the EVAP monitor switched to ok (it takes the longest after an ECU power loss or reflash to show as ok). ![]() ![]() MHD disables the O2 monitors on stage 1 & 2 maps. If you run an emissions readiness check with MHD the CAT monitor will show as N/A (the little crossed out circle on my scanner) instead of ok or not ok. Depending on the emissions testing standards in your state you may be able to pass emissions with the CAT monitor showing as N/A. Most states allow 1 or possibly 2 readiness monitors to be not ok or N/A when the car is normally supposed to report that monitor. But it varies by state. The only way to get the CAT monitor to show as ok with MHD is with the DP fix. You flash back to stage 0 and drive around for several days until you complete enough drive cycles to get all the readiness monitors to show as ok. |
