Toyota Truck Disassembled After 1 million miles
Remarkable how reliable a Toyota is.
http://www.trucktrend.com/how-to/pro...the-tear-down/ A little background story, last year the owner of this Toyota Tundra reached a million miles with all original parts. Toyota bought the truck off the owner in exchange for a new truck. Now Toyota has fully disassembled the truck to examine how it made a million miles without any failure. http://toyotanews.pressroom.toyota.c...undra-2016.htm Last edited by MaximusB; 05-10-2017 at 11:38 PM.. |

Simple because it's not a BMW.

Best part of the story.....
“We remeasured the head, the block, and cams in our lab,” said Connie Roberts, Toyota quality manager. “Nothing was abnormal. It wasn’t within specifications, but after a million miles it isn’t going to be. The biggest surprise to me was the bearings. They are probably the cleanest I’ve ever seen come out of an engine.” |

My old man still has his 1998 Land Cruiser. It has about 210k miles on it now and all the truck has ever needed is oil changes, tires and a respray here and there due to chips from the highway. He says the only he would get rid of it is if Toyota offers him a brand new one.

And IMHO, its pickups don't need a 'Heavy Duty' designation because they all are. No, Toyota doesn't make a dualie, and no, Toyota doesn't make a rip-snortin' diesel stump puller. But they will take a beating as well as anything else on the planet.

I have a 2012 Tacoma with a 4.0L v6. If I wanted to, I could take it in to a dealer and have a supercharger strapped onto it. Adds 50HP. Doesn't affect the warranty one bit.
That's what you call an understressed engine. No it's not an S54. Probably the exact opposite! |

Name another manufacturer that offers the option. You can't. Sure, Joe's Blowers LLC will strap something on your motor and give you mondo power, and your warranty will walk away as soon as they do.
Also I was a bit low. 304hp/334tq, up from 236/266. |

Jumped into a 500k km Camry hybrid taxi the other day and not a single creek or rattle
I had an FJ cruiser a while back which I modified. I had the interior apart and affixing trim is a master class in minimalism of screws and clips, yet nothing rattles - I have no idea how they do it |
