I would go with a Helix V8 or 6 DSP
and Maybe Jehnert Flatline kit or if you want to
go all the way a Jehnert doorboard after all you are
the fund guy. Talk to 6spdcooupe at Unexpected Creations.
I think Technic lives somewhere in Florida maybe
you should get in touch with him . Through his
website.
(keeping the head unit)maybe upgrade to NBT evo.
Bimmeretrofits NBT kit. (if you have idrive)
If you need to code it Bimmergeeks for help with that they are also Florida Based I believe.

Fundguy is because I sell mutual funds. I can get the list I posted for $2500. Head unit is starting to go. Amp is fried. No Idrive. Focals I can get for $400 a pair new. Trying to keep it in budget under $3k, not build the ultimate system. I'm doing the install myself. The helix 8 is 75x8. I need 75x
×4-100×4 and 300-600×1.
JL Audio hd900/5 I found for $800 new.
If you know of better plug and play speakers or better amp gfor the price...

Nice setup, but let the opinions begin! I would go with something basic on the rear speakers (or leave them stock) and put those funds toward a DSP.....ctuna mentioned a Helix, I have one in my own car and its fantastic. The learning curve is steep if you are going the DIY route but the results.....

I used to install for a living for 3 yrs. Just out of the loop on what's good and what fits.

If you used to be an installer then the current DSP stuff will blow your mind.....makes everything SO much easier than it used to be when working with higher end audio. Full active crossovers, ability to adjust phase and delay independently on every speaker, 32 bands of EQ per speaker and the ability to adjust frequency and Q on every band, and so on.....basically you can manipulate EVERYTHING. Dig around here and on DIYMA.com to see if going that route might work for you.

Hi,

As already mentioned by Ctuna.

Go helix - any and all days of the week you will get mind blowing results with a new DSP based amp.

Also this will enable you to get the most from your speakers.

My suggestion would be:

Dynavin N6 - if you like..... (would prefer OEM or a good aftermarket unit instead of this low (sound) quality product...

Focal 100 KRS seperates front
HK (Logic7) OEM woofers
HK (logic7) OEM rear speakers

Connected to a Helix DSP 6 MK2 (or PP62 for price)

JL Audio CS110G -W6v3 sub cube

Connected to a good mono amplifier fed from the pre out from the Helix amp

Satisfaction guaranteed..

If your budget is $2,500 to $3,000, I would get in touch with http://musicarnw.com/ or https://technicpnp.com/

Either will be able to make sure you have all the harnesses you need. The Music Car guys will be able to sell you a whole package (harness, speakers, DSP, amp, subwoofer, mounts).

Ok, so a helix 6 I would use 4 channels to do the two mids and two tweets front, 2 channels to do mids and tweets rear. Skip the crossover that comes with the seperates front, use it for rear. Helix 8 would be 8 channels, 4 mids, 4 tweets. Either would then do out for sub monoblock. Thats the idea?

You want to do the under seats don't ignore them they deserve underseats 2 channels one channel under each seat.

doors 2 channels with passive crossover or
4 channels active requires another set of wires
be run to the doors.
If you want to do active you might want to go with
the V 8 or ignore the rear channels .
I think the 6 dsp has extra dsp channels for another
amp and speakers.
check specs.

The new HELIX P SIX DSP MK2 6-channel amplifier not solely delivers loads of clean power and incorporates a cutting-edge 8-channel DSP with outstanding processing power but also sets new standards with its “Ultra HD Class D” amplifier technology.

Its a big mistake because a sub alone can not bridge the
gap between a Real sub and 4 inch speakers.

Make them mid subs youre saying? When i was installing, that varried by brand. Even in a particular brand and line some sizes did better than others. For example, Boston Acoustics 4 1/2 and 6 1/2 were great, 5 1/4 sucked. Mid bass might be worth contemplating though.

Stereo 101 you need midsize speakers between the tiny and big
speakers to cover the range. Sure some same size speakers are
better than others but there is a point where you have to balance the
sizes. This is at least standard procedure.

Yeah, you MUST do underseats. The E9X platform essentially has a 3 way front, and it works, REAL good, even with stock speakers (if using a DSP). Don't reinvent the wheel here.....tons of us have already gone down this road and there is already an established formula that works.

underseats will cover about 60/70-200hz depending on speaker, sub below 70, door mids 200 on up, tweeters will vary by manufacturer.

Best bet is probably a Helix V eight, use 6 channels for the front, 2 channels for the rear, and one of the line outs for the sub. Get some good underseats, leave the rears stock, good sub. Lots of tuning time..... success!

I wouldn't think twice if it was a 12" or bigger woof but a 10" gets closer. Still might as well do a 3 way.

The following is part 1 of a 14 part series on tuning
a DSP and he uses a Helix. This will give you and idea
or guide on what it takes to tune one. And its kind of
a technical process until you get to the end.
It might be fun or a chore depending on how much you are
into sound.
The process he uses is pretty much what Helix describes on
there website.

Sorry to say - but your idea will not give optimal results in a BMW.

The doors hold 9,5-10cm speakers that work OK to 200hz at higher spl and OK to 100-120Hz at average SPL.

The underseat woofers can bring the 'punch' that no 10cm speaker will ever be able to do.

If tuned right then a system with 1" tweeter + 4" midrange + 8" midwoofer in the front + subwoofer* in the back will be the by far bedst solution.

* Subwoofer can be all from 1 10" to 2 15" depending on your 'needs'.

The Helix 6DSP MK2 will be the hifi solution, it can drive the front 3 way + sub out or front & rear mid/high passive + front midwoofers active + sub out.

So can a PP62 and again, it is up to your temper to decide which you 'need'..

A solution with one of the 2 8 channel amplifiers can work, but I would not waste time on active crossovers for rear, but use the 2 channels for the midwoofer. And again pre-out for a sub amp.

I actually think there is enough potential with these solutions to take prizes at sound competitions if installed well. EMMA Europe 'Expert 5000€' had such a solution as 4' prize for the european finals. No.3 was double price and immence installation labour behind.

yeah, it seems to have been forgotten around here that a decade ago Gary Biggs had a great deal of competition success in IASCA etc... with an E90 running a JBL MS-8 Processor and STOCK SPEAKERS.

Yes - KISS seems to be underrated in many cases...

I noticed that you live in Orlando. I also live in orlando, if you want to hear my setup in person just let me know through PM and we can workout a day to meet.

I have the stock CIC I-Drive navigation system that originally came with Hifi. I replaced my Hifi amp with a 4ch JBL amp that is set at 100hz for my for my front and rear speakers (you have more stock speakers since you have the logic 7 setup). I also replaced my underseat sub with 8in earthquakes. I then threw in a 10" W6V3 sub into the ski pass. I've been living with this setup for 3 years now and i've never felt the need to upgrade the stock speakers or add anymore. It's plenty for me.

Here's a link with some pictures of my amp/sub setup.
