What is this?

I recently replaced my glow plug module and after putting everything back together I notice a plastic cover type thing on the floor. In the pic below it's the dome looking cap by the red arrow on the left side.

Anyone know what this is?

Sensor to control the swirl flap actuator? Looks like it has a plug-in for an electrical connector, so definitely a sensor, and it is paired up with the swirl flap actuator.

That black cage falls off very easily when reinstalling the intake. But it's simple to pop back into place.

Too late for that. Didn't notice until after I was done at 2:30am. What's it protecting? Doesn't look like anything that could get damaged just sitting there.

I bet it is laying there underneath somewhere. It on the bottom of the swirl flap actuator. Not sure why it has the cage on it. I bet you will find it if it fell off. Use a telescoping mirror like I did to find it. Those mirrors are invaluable to have for many things besides working on cars.
