blown speaker - no sub

Hi guys, looking for some help, i got my 08 e93 335i about a week ago. I'm in love

Having problems with the sound system though. The passengers side sounds as if its blown, even t low volumes you get a horrible tiny sound. Also there is no bass coming from the subs. It sounded like they were starting to work yesterday while listening to a bassy song, but then the right hand side speakers were going tinny so i switched it off. played the same song today but there was no bass.

I've searched around and seen the stories of water getting into the amp. So yesterday i managed to strip out the rear boot quarter to check (is there no DIY's for the because i struggled for about 30mins

It all seemed bone dry (there was even a little spider web in there)

the only thing i noticed was a random cable not plugged into anything

I'm not clued up with audio systems (or much for that matter) but i've attached some pics of teh cable etc.

Can anyone point me at what to look into next?

Water near amplifier usually means blown amplifier.
There is an extra most cable for the cd cassete option pre wired in cars before 2010.
You could take your speaker out and test it still most likely the amp.
Funny that looks like a Hi Fi amp connector but its a post 2010 hi fi amp the pre 2010 Hi Fi amps are black.

Thanks for clearing up the extra cable

It's making me wonder if the previous owner has had it changed due to water damage. It's possible its happened again.

How would i go about testing the speakers?

Thanks man. I'm in the UK. They all seem pretty expensive. Will keep a look out for one.

Take it out visually inspect it . See how the static resistance
compares to another amp . Power it up and play music through
it with something other than whats its hooked up to now.

This has finally been annoying me enough that i'm starting to tackle it.

I got myself a multimeter and some 2nd hand subs and front speakers.

The new subs are showing 4ohms resistance but the fronts 0.2... I'm a totally new to electrics so am i doing soemthing wrong are are the f***ed?

I installed one of the subs but still no sound from it. the old sub is showing Zero-Ohms.

This makes me think it's the amp.

Can anyone help a beginner out on how i go about testing the amp with this multi-meter thing?

second hand subs have different color of the label
white is for base system
lightblue is for hifi system
orange for hk/l7/tophifi system
green is for individual audio system
you now have hifi amp in trunk
what is you car build date ? do you have idrive ? if you do not know you can provide last 7 symbols of VIN to see what factory system should be on your car

Thanks for the Reply.

I don't have Idrive.

I think the "New" ones are yellow/ orange labels and the old ones are blue labeled.

I actually just ordered a secondhand Amp the other day (9233965), just waiting for it to be delivered.

Will update if this fixes it

Replacement amp has fixed it!

Think one of the rear speakers are blown. The passenger front i replaced sounds a bit quieter as well.

I'm just happy i have bass back in my life!

it is qiueter because now your amp do not provide enough power to it
you have to use lightblue subwoofer with that amp
