Possible to update maps with single USB drive?

Is it possible to put all the files on a single thumb drive, or is it necessary to have them on 4 separate ones?

Yes possible to merge all of them: config.nfm is the same for each of them, then add in the pkgdb file the 3 ones.
Fat32 format about the Usb pen but some reported (new versions?) with ntfs, so try update is displayed under 1 second when detected and much faster than using DVDs

Are you saying to have one config.nfm and then the 3 folders in the root directory, that's it? No need to rename files?

Lesbiahonest here...it's just easier to use the 4. You can get them for ~20 bucks total.

Essentially you just move the 4 packages to the 1 USB, one by one; whenever you're done with one USB, you move the next set of files to the USB, plug it in for update, so on and so forth...

Yeah that's how I've always done it, too. Oh well, it's not that hard and finding a "one and done" solution isn't really a big priority for such a simple task, lol.

Right?!

What's the hard thing to cut and paste two files and plug the USB DRIVE to the car?

This can even be done while driving!

Files can be kept on the same drive. No need to have 4 separate. The files needs just be seen at root directory for idrive to continue the process.

The system will read any type of drive and I've fed it everything from 128GB USB3 pens to 8GB SD cards with no trouble and it doesn't mind if there's a bunch of other stuff on the drive, but somehow it does not understand how to deal with everything on one drive. It will copy the entire 4-drive update from drive 1, then stop to ask for drives 2-4. I've tried it several times and can't figure out what it's looking for but when I finally feed it drives 2-4 it just glances at them and immediately finishes.

Note that every time you stop the update by turning off the car it will start over at drive 1 and will require you to re-insert every previously completed drive for a few seconds to check, so you can't just use one drive and re-configure it each night. But you can load the whole map from one drive, then sit in the garage for 5 minutes with a laptop re-configuring the drive as 2-4. Also note that it can take up to an hour to copy the files from your PC to the pen drive so you really need to have a fully loaded 32+GB drive to make this method feasible.
