New To Detailing & Have Some Questions

Yes, I did change the title, because im new to the detailing stuff and have some questions that i need you guys to please help with

Im going to post questions that i need help with as the thread goes along, and if any member want to ask a question in this thread, please feel free to ask .......There is NO , LOL!!

Im buying MF Drying Towels and i don't know which one to choose .....actually im buying two.

Which one is better waffle-weave towel, Meguiar's Water Magnet Drying Towel (http://www.thedetailingshop.com/en/e...ing_Towel.html) OR Detailed image waffle-weave Drying towel (http://www.detailedimage.com/DI-Micr...ng-Towel-P100/)?

My Options are:

#1) Buy 2 of Meguair's Water Magnet Drying towel
#2) Buy 2 of Detailed Image waffle-weave drying towel
#3) Buy one of each

Another question, which one is better washing mitt, Meguiar's Microfiber Wash Mitt (http://www.thedetailingshop.com/en/e...p16980959.html) OR Detailed Image sheepskin wash mitt (http://www.detailedimage.com/DI-Acce...ash-Mitt-P120/)

Thank you guys in advance

i personally like the waffle from Detailed Image, good quality, i recommend it. Also as far as mitts, I've never been a fan of MF ones, i have the sheep skin one from DI, also good. Plus you will be supporting a e90post vendor

the waffle weave from DI is amazing and many people are happy with it. Not many people have the meguiars one. As far as washmitts go, its personal preference. Some people like the microfiber, some like the sheepskins and some like grout sponges.

I think both of the DI choices are better. The Meg's Water Magnet towel is a good towel -- I have a couple of them. But the one from DI is just as good and is larger. The sheepskin mitt is a better choice than the MF mitt you linked to. Most people use sheepskin. I do like the "dreadlock" MF mitts, though, like this one: http://www.chemicalguys.com/CAR_WASH..._p/mic_493.htm

I haven't had a chance to try out the waffle weave from DI yet, but their other towels are the softest and of highest quality I have used yet, I highly recommend them.

My choice for the was would be a Sheepskin. A grout sponge can't reach into certain areas without having to put a considerable amount of pressure onto the surrounding paint, and a microfiber mit has a tendancy to grab dirt and debris and hold it. A sheepskin rinses clean and gets into the small groves and gaps of body panels, all while rinsing clean and "gliding" over the paint.

There's a product at Canadian tire that costs $10 for salt stains in the carpet, but i just use the carwash soap (mcguire's gold class) with some warm water, and scrub the floors with a brush. when i'm done i spray scotchguard over it.

i use a vaccum first, then i scrape the white crap off, and vaccum again.

second i wash and brush the carpet; after i'm done i vaccum the leftovers.

finally i use a dry cloth (or any towel) to soak up any moisture, and vaccum the bitch again.

For carpets, I vacuum and use the occasional carpet stain remover. Hardcore detailers use steam extractors on their carpets.

For a carpet, see if you can find somebody that does ChemDry carpet cleaning. That is the best I have ever used, I did it in homes for a few summers. You put no where near the amount of liquid on the carpet, so it dries really quick. Vacuum first, spritz with ChemDry, wipe with a towel, enjoy.

The ChemDry process is a carbonated emulsion that lifts the dirt to the surface and you wipe it off. I once worked on white carpet off the redwood deck of a beach house. We couldn't get the wear marks out, but the carpet was white again. AND, the person could walk on it in 15 minutes, it was dry.
