Bluetooth Hands Free - Sound Quality?
I just ordered my 330i and opted not (for the moment) to include the handsfree bluetooth communication. I've heard that while you (the driver) can hear quite nicely, the caller on the other end can often have a tough time hearing you - sounds like a poor speaker phone to them.
Just wanted to throw this topic out there for users of the handsfree bluetooth in the '06 330i and see if you've received feedback from callers either way. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences, good or otherwise. |

I can't imagine my car without bluetooth. I make alot of phone calls in the car, and no one has complained so far.
Not a single person complained of not being able to hear it well. Actually, I prefer using it via BT because people say they can hear it better than when I just talk on my cell Razr Blk. It has been one of the most convienent and head-ache causing feature in my E90.

You are speaking into a small microphone that is mounted in the overhead panel above the rear view mirror - so obviously your voice is not going to be crystal clear. Also add it any ambient noise in the car and some road noise. I always make sure that the windows and sunroof are closed before making a call. But, having said that - I agree with Lux.sh and will never have another car without it.
IMO talking while driving is meant to be done in short intervals when necessary. I don't condone "yakking" on the phone while driving regardless of the technical setup. Talking on the phone distracts you from the very important job at hand - safely operating a motor vehicle. If it's long conversations in the car you're after, hire a chauffer and sit in the back seat.

I think the bluetooth is the E90 is the best car kit I've ever had.
It's clear, works 99.9% of the time (since I got my new phone) and no one ever complains about hearing me. I also make sure to close the sunroof and all windows. |

Hands free okay
I just got a verizon razr v3c and it works quite well with the car. The sound quality is fine. In fact, most people don't know that I'm driving when I call. I've never had a hands free system before and eventhough it's easier to drive with out holding the phone to your ear it is still very distracting.....

i'll reiterate the other posters: i've never had anyone on the other end complain about the sound quality. most don't even know i'm in the car unless they hear the sound from the blinker.

OK. Here's a contarian opinion. I'm not impressed with the sound quality. When my wife calls from her e90, I often have a difficult time understanding her (Verizon Motorola E815). However, when I'm in her car, the INCOMING voice quality is superb.
All in all, though, the BlueTooth is definitely worth it -- outgoing sound quality notwithstanding. Mike

Hi,
No problems/complaints here. People always say the sound quality is excellent and that they can hear no background noise at all.

The sound quality of the person with whom I am speaking is great through the car speakers.
However, people on the other end of my calls have commented on the sound quality of the call -- they say it sounds like I'm in a large room and there is a bit of an echo. I always have the roof closed and the windows up, too.

I had my doubts about it when I first got it and just kept using my earpiece, however I tried it out the other day and the person on the other end said it was as good, if not better, than my normal headset . That was while crusing on the freeway with quite a bit of traffic noise.
I think quality on all hands-free is so-so, compared to using just the phone handset. I think the BMW one is probably one of the better implimentations though. |

I love my blutooth in my car. I have the rzr silver and let me tell you BMW has one of the best Bluetooth systems out there. You should see the Lexus kind IT SUCKS!! The sounds comes out from a little speaker on the driver side. its ok. I am in the wireless business and i help lexus clients with their phone choices for their cars... and man i feel sorry for the cheap bluetooth kit they have on their expesive car. but oh well.. thanks
