Understanding Codes

Hey guys,
I had a service engine light pop last week which disappeared after a day. So I decided to visit Autozone (to get my codes read) and figure what the issue could be. There system showed NO CODES on the computer.
WTF does that mean? I'm also not running tire pressure sensors which should throw a code right?
I'm going through the preventative maintance list and thought it would be helpful before I tune the car. Any advice would be great.

I'm not entirely sure what equipment/scanner Autozone utilizes but even if the service engine light went away on it's own (meaning whatever triggered it was not present anymore at the moment) it should still be accessible as a stored code unless it was manually cleared.

Maybe try someone local with a different scanner? You should have NO CODES present/active but you should find some stored codes that would display as not present.

That's what I was thinking! I think the lady at AutoZone had no clue what she was doing... ERRRrrr. Yeah I'll hit up Advance Auto Parts tomorrow and report back here with what they find.
