I can recommend the OEM Alll weather rubber matts. I got just the front 2 for around £40 from memory I thought they would have been much more expensive, one of the best things I have bought for the car

bmw velour ones every time, cheaper ones are false economy
also if you want to be a complete loon like me you can put stripes in the bmw velour with a credit card, by combing them in alternate directions just like freshly mown grass, it looks fab for at least 2 minutes kate |

In the carpet? No but you just push the disc in and screw and it pushes through the carpet. I stuck them to the mat first, got it in roughly the right place and pushed down so they marked the carpet first, rather than just a rough guess when screwing them in.
