Audio upgrade for the Base System

Hi all,

My E90 has the base system with Bluetooth/USB headunit. I want to upgrade the system but on a budget and I do not want to see any changes in the car. What I want to know is it worth fitting the Hi-Fi amp or ignoring this and going straight for aftermarket 5 channel amp?

I have already sourced 4 speakers and will look to source upgraded subs, either Hi-fi, Logic 7 or aftermarket.

Any tips?

What year is your car? Is it pre 09?

If so then I am not sure what you are gaining from this harness? I installed a 4 channel amp and a sound processor in my E90. The harness cost about £20 to make. It was unbelievably simple too.

If you have 2009+ car then you will require a couple of plugs as the parallel connection is done at the underseat subs. Think these are normally a few quid.

2006 E90. Can you tell me where you installed your amp?

In that case, i would definitely not buy a harness. All you need is good quality speaker cable, no BMW plugs are required.

I installed it in the boot next to the combox module like the Alpine kit. There are plenty of guides on the Alpine kit, I just followed this but used L7 speakers + sub, with aftermarket amp and sound processor.

I'd have a harness but not this one, it's too expensive! Look for a gladen quad lock harness for half the price.

Check my thread. Cost a lot less then most systems and sounds mental for the money.
