Goodyear F1s

Finally got my summer wheels and rubber installed this weekend. Bottom line, the Goodyear F1 GS D3s are worth every nickel more than the competition. These are far and away the best speed rated tire I've ever owned.

I'm running staggered 19s with 265 in the back. Honestly these tires feel like they're made of superglue.

There are a bunch of different F1's, are you talking about the Asymetrics? The scored very well in a comparo that Tire Rack did. Looking at the stats, my only complaint would be the Asymetrics are 2 to 3 lbs heavier than the Michelin PS2s in the same sizes.

I like them alot but won't buy them again. They flat spot every morning especially when cold. They do stick very well and better than the runflats. I just find it unacceptable that my car vibrates every morning for 5 miles and Goodyear tells me thats normal on all of there performance tires and I have a friend that woorks for Goodyear.

I'm hoping they get better as the weather warms up. The grip more than makes up for the flatspotting for me...and in the rain they are incredible.

Added which F1's I'm running for clarification (GS D3s) to the OP.

The flat spot bit is an interesting issue. I havne't experienced it yet, but I'll keep my eyes open. I had them on in rain this weekend, but they weren't broken in at all yet, so I was driving pretty cautiously.

I have the Assymetrics - I'm guessing the other poster w/ issues flatspotting has the Assymetrics also (I never had the flatspotting issue with the GS D3s).

For dry grip, I preffer the PS2's hands down, but I'm not taking anything away from the GY F1 GS D3's.

i thought the f1 gs d3s were a little too sticky. When they were new every single pebble and rock stuck to my tires making a lot of annoying noises.

I plan on replacing my tires with the GS D3s myself. Had them on my last two cars and loved them.

Assymetrics - newer technology. Check out the tirerack tests of the Assymetrics. You really can't go wrong with either, but I have had both and my vote is for the Assymetrics.

GY F1 GS D3's here as well
Very pleased with them
Whenever is time to replace them, it's gonna be these again

To David1:
Not sure if your case is just isolated to you, but i have these for a few month (North East) and never had issues even at temps around 30F

Between the GSD3's and Asymmetrics, I'd go with the Asymmetrics. They're new, but I've heard nothing but good things about them. And they're very similarly priced to the GSD3's. I've heard the that the GSD3's get noisy with just 8-10K miles. Hopefully that's not the case with the Asymmetrics.

Just because something is new..doesnt mean it is better. It just means they probably changed it. My GS D3s didnt get noisy after 8-10K miles...I have had several tires in the past that did....like the Pirelli P7000 super sports...YIKES..I felt like I was in a V8 Powerwagon with 35 inch knobbies.

My Dunlop SP Sport 9000s got noisy after 10000 miles. They were the older ones though, before they changed manufacturing plants. Great rubber, but the GSD3s are better.

The AWD in this car is really amazing. With the F1s, cornering in dry weather is superb. With my Nokian HakkaRSis in the winter, I pwn snow and ice. This car is the master of all conditions. Truly an automotive achievement.

Were the F1 GS-D3's runflats or normal?
If normal, how did it change your ride, feel and handling?

I have used F1 GS D3's in many cars; great tire in dry and wet.
But I am concerned abut the replacement of these damn 18" run flats on the 335i...

normal. I never ran runflats, so I'm not qualified to comment there. Hopefully someone else can assist.

What I can say is the F1s are superb for handling. Coming from my snows (I know, not apples to apples) the car is completely transformed. It snaps to on turn in, and corners on rails, even with the xi "non-sport" suspension. I'm very very pleased with my purchase.

Yes I loved my F1 GS-D3s and their unique look as well.

However, I've found the Continental Contisport 3s to be a much better tire for me in the dry while being driven aggressively. They have better feel and lots less noise than the goodyears, but I would buy the Goodyears again as well.

So yeah, the Goodyears are great tires, but I am digging the Conti's more, accept in the wet, the GS-D3s are ina class by themselves in the wet.
