Thank you very much for posting this information.

However, are you saying that the X1 can be optioned with either the Steptronic or the DCT? That would be pretty surprising if true. |

Only the sDrive ( FWD ) petrol models of the X1 can be ordered with DCT. The normal Steptronic isn't an option for petrol sDrive X1 anymore. All xDrive or diesel sDrive have the normal Steptronic. |

By any chance do you know if the FWD 2 Series AT and GT models also undergo this change at this time as well? The other question would be if this also applies to the 1 Series sedan, but that is not sold in Germany (yet) as far as I know. |

Thanks for the good update! Do you know if the M4 CS will ever be in the configurator?

Currently in the configurator the 2 Series AT and GT are sold with the normal Steptronic transmission and also with the "old" NBT Infotainment system. But i think it could be also possible that BMW changes the FWD models of the 2 series AT and GT with DCT because there are rumours that in september should come an LCI of the 2 Series AT. An prototype has been already seen in Germany. Source : http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/n...t-1036457.html |

The M4 GTS wasn't also in the configurator. Also the M4 CS should be available to order next month so it should have been already in the configurator. Source : http://www.bmw.de/de/neufahrzeuge/m/...bmw-m4-cs.html Last edited by Michael.O.W; 06-23-2017 at 09:26 AM.. |

I was thinking the same, but BMW will sell you one, if you want one. The limitation is just a "direction of cars they think they will sell". There was a nice article and interview on BimmerToday quite a while ago.

http://www.bimmertoday.de/2017/04/21...k-deutschland/ Yeah it seems logic but the M4 CS isn't a "mass product" like a normal M4 so why i would say it wouldn't come to the configurator |

I can't understand the 520i with 184 PS and X1 20i with 192 PS.
The 520i option doesn't make too much sense. This engine is so weak for such a car. Nice updates in the lineup, but some prices can't be justified. Maybe the dealers apply some discounts as I can't see so many paying more than 50k € for an 120i |

Dual clutch transmissions have efficiency advantages, so they will remain a compelling choice for automakers in some applications (typically smaller vehicles with four cylinder engines). They tend to cost more and weigh more than automatics in high torque applications, hence they are falling out of favor in those cases. They used to offer noticeably faster shifting than automatics which made the trade-off a worthwhile compromise, but that advantage has largely gone away. |
