Not in Houston, but close enough that if there ever is a meet and greet I could possibly make a trip if I'm off work.

Hitting this thread with this info also just in case anybody missed it
Any of you interested in going to the Towne Lake Cars & Coffee: Cars on the Lake event? I checked it out last month and it was nice.. about 100-120 cars (all kinds - but mostly muscle cars) only saw 3 bimmers (2 7-series and 1 M5).. come on.. we can do better than that!! This would be a nice place/event to meet y'all and for sure get better representation. Event takes place Saturday July 8th from 8:00 - 10:00 AM but it goes on for much longer, usually until noon. Spoke to the organizer and we don't have to register.. just show up around 7:00-7:30 to make sure you get a spot. Address: 9819 Barker Cypress Rd Cypress TX 77433 Thus far we got 3 going and 1 maybe Going 1) DieselDemonDM, Northwest, Cypress 2) 335stoner, Northwest, Cypress 3) PhotoGuy87, North, The Woodlands Maybe 4) BB_cuda, Clear Lake (if car is back together and drivable) |

Lets try to keep this one going for local events and get together for the "D" members.
I'll keep up with it as much as I can, but I am going to use my first post and update it as I can... The plan -I'll keep a Houston list going as they are added -I'll try to keep some events updated and change them as they go-- this one may or may not work out, but I will give it the college try.... |

If we're doing events, Friday, July 14 from 5:30 to 10pm at Texas World Speedway by College Station there is a drag racing night. Informal, no time slips, arm drop starts, 1/8th mile. It's 20 bucks to race and that's for as many runs as you can get. They run it real fast so you'll get plenty of runs for your $20. Would love to see some of y'all out there. http://www.twsdrags.com/ for details.

I have a stage 2.8. This will be my first time running tuned. Last time I was stock and still got a few wins. It's a good time no matter what. There's a kid who brings out his early 2000s Civic coupe with only an exhaust and has a ball. I gave him 3 car lengths and still passed him.

I'll see if the wife wants to go... It's a tad over an hour drive from Cypress (not bad) but I would have to leave work early which is easy to do as long as I don't have a last minute test....
I will know a little more mid next week I'll say maybe |

I'm in SE Houston near UH.
I got 2.8 tune too and plan to run it in the 1/4mi in Baytown sometime....preferably once it's slightly cooler out. I'll post up if I get a date set. Do y'all have any good BMW shops that do any repairs? I've used BMW autohaus in midtown to replace leaking valve cover gasket but they're expensive. (But good work) now I got leak oil lines, esp the hard to reach line that u have to remove turbos for. |

A)I have done most of the rear suspension work and only need to torque the shock mounts up on top and perhaps adjust to correct firmness/softness. I need to figure out initial setting. The rear spring settings are on full tall height for initial try. B) Differential bushings still ahead of me C) All of front suspension still ahead of me (tension and wishbone links, front M3 sway bar, both Ground Control coil over struts) D) Oops, I forgot i have the differential lock down kit from VWetish E) Alignment, I need to determine correct specs to have done. My car will be a hybrid of M3 and 335D. It was so cool when i was messing with one of the rear toe links watching the rear hub being pushed out or pulled in at will. They adjust in the same process like a front tie rod. I really like the bimmerworld ones with spherical bearings. Thanks for the recommendation, Yozh!! |

I've been having to hunt for the pass through sockets to deal with torquing the upper rear shock mounts (19mm), front strut tops (22 mm), and the front tension links and wishbones (21 mm). You need to be able to hold shaft from spinning while torquing the nuts. Also the front links have a torx tip on the ball joints for same purpose. We had to drive to Baytown Sears to find the 21 and 22 sizes with proper wrench that they fit into. We'll see if I can get there on Saturday. Last edited by BB_cuda; 07-05-2017 at 11:22 PM.. |

I highly doubt I will be done by Friday night/Saturday morning. I will need Saturday to continue on my suspension trek. I will have to catch you guys next time. Maybe we can do a south side of town thing in the future? Galveston at the strand would be cool.
