On3 single build journal (WAS 55mm now Precision 6266 BB!)

So in the time i have owned my 335i i have done full bolt ons and inlets, and then after a while i realized im not going to be satisfied with anything near what the stock twins are capable of nor do i care for seeking ethanol to make good power, so i saved money for a single turbo. I placed an order for an on3 55mm single kit and some exhaust manifold gaskets today.

I will be updating this post and thread with everything that occurs from here on out. i have a mac solenoid and new dp gaskets, a slanted oil drain which i anticipate needing, and plenty of thick wall silicone 1/4 vacuum line.

I got the 55mm option because i need to save for a better turbo anyway. I omitted the intercooler, cp, bov, and wastegate and im currently searching for a 44mm wastegate to get tomorrow, because ive heard bad things about generic wastegates.

Im going with a remote tune just to get my car started off with. hope fully someone can get me pointed in the right direction because i run mhd and all i have is a MAC solenoid, no jb4. Update: Im going flash only with a manual boost controller. When motiv stocks the boostbox again Ill get my hands on one.

Update: I ordered a Tial wastegate saturday, it arrived today, Monday. A beautiful Tial 44mm MVR. Also received my turbo smart manual boost controller. I dont anticipate the On3 kit shipping until Thursday or Friday since today is July the 4th.

Update 7/5/17 the kit has shipped and i anticipate getting it tuesday. Im pretty impressed considering i ordered it friday and its the day after independence day.. they seem to have a smooth operation going on.

Update

installed the kit
added a precision 6266 gen2 ball bearing turbo. .82 ar open vband
Added VRSF 7.5 race intercooler
Added devils own methanol injection single DO12 (750cc min) running 100% methanol
Added another methanol nozzle, saving for direct port now

What are your plans for fueling? You'll need ethanol or meth to achieve more power than maxed out stock turbos.

More like a diary filled with questions rather than a build journal...google "boost box" before you spend any unnecessary money elsewhere.

ordered a tmap sensor, not waiting any longer so i bought one from a better vendor that ships same day and will sell the other one when it comes in. Ordered some 95770 mini cooper plugs and a new coolant cap from oreilly. Also ordered a tmap adaptor from BMS. Hood struts arrived today. Needed them a long time ago LOL.

Now I have slapped on a 6266 and a VRSF 7.5 intercooler on it. Added xHP Stage 3 transmission tune (having an 06 car i had to wait a while) Direct port meth injection coming very soon. For now I am shaping up the pump gas map with EMP tuning.

this is exactly how I would have done a budget single build! Glad to see it is working out for you!

Any modifications needed to switch to the 6266 turbo / you think there is enough clearance for a 6466?

So you deleted all options and purchased sep 44mm wastegate and turbo blanket etc..

Anything else that didn't fit or wasn't included? I am interested in this kit minus the turbo, fmic, cp, and wastegate. I want to make sure i'm not running to the store/ordering to find missing hoses, fittings, plugs, etc.

How long did it take to receive once ordered? Thanks!

On a 6466 im pretty sure the down pipe vband angle will have to be modified for it to fit. A 6266 worked though. Everything is in the kit except a boost controller, and coolant relocation/ ps relocation. That and two vacuum caps for the twin turbo vacuum nipples behind the oil filter housing. Need 4 foot of 3/4 inner diameter heater hose and two 3/4 couplers and clamps to do the relocation of the coolant tank.

If you order the kit from on3 itll take less than two weeks to get to you

Sorry i havent been in this thread, i didnt notice it pick up.

Its putting in work on only pump gas/oct booster and direct injection

I outran a ported heads/cam/ intake/ headers/ dyno tune z06

Where are ya'll running at? I'm about 10-15 miles from Pasadena, and would love to come play. Nice work on pulling the Z, those cars are no joke. I should know, as I have a built Z. You're making me look at that damn kit pretty good now..LOL Keep updating.

They fit xi.

I added methanol injection last week, I will be getting some numbers after doing refinements to the methanol triggering, and after getting my DME mosfets repaired

No matter how many shit all over this kit, with the right hardware, this thing makes power cheap! There are trims out there able to make good power also. It's good to know that you can single on the cheap!
