Using a different expansion tank?
Anyone thought of using a different expansion tank? thinking i may go the 6 series one, will flow be impacted depending on pressure?
also anyone know the part numbers for the connector? cant find it anywhere.

FYI BQ tuning posted a photo of a 740i engine and it had the same/similar looking reservoirs in the same location

When mine blows again i will look into an alternative. Seems like the white plastic ones rarely blow up. I might even mount my tank on something cushiony

I looked into a metal one a while ago and none were available so I replaced with OEM.
I spotted this the other day. An aluminium replacement that I will definitely get next time. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1394345 https://www.swbperformance.com/expansiontank/ |

Kinda how Audi/VW fans are about the cheap plastic impellers audi uses on water pumps that over time with heat get brittle and break apart prematurely. Instead they want a metal impeller like a Nissan which continues to work as the bearings get play and the impellers grind into the inside of the engine block. What's easier and cheaper to fix? |

Why would it be a radiator instead? They blow up almost as often as expansion tanks. Is it generally accepted that these things blow up because of excessive pressure (faulty cap?)?
Im leaning more towards excessive vibration, exacerbated by aftermarket suspension. Not that runflats and soft stock suspension is any more cushy but the tank is hard mounted without any rubber isolators on the two tabs which hold the top section (above the seam), contents of the tank and the tank's own weight. There is a small stalk on the bottom which pokes into a soft silicone damper but IMO they could mount these better, make the tank lighter, make it out of better materials |

e70 fair good fit, need to mod return and whatnot mount is easy requires a little stepdown piece i buy those lil bits of galvanised steel with holes at bunnings and bend to suit, expect i dropped the tank and broke the tab haha

Hey, I saw this pic posted of your engine bay. I’m currently looking for a different expansion tank that will fit since i’ve begun relocation of the original tank but it’s tough to squeeze in with my 335i chargepipe w/ bov. With the e70 expansion tank how was fitment of the tank and did you use a 335i charge pipe or 335d charge pipe.
