Spoon = Honda / BMW = ?
I am new to the BMW scene. Came from honda. Had a modified 96 integra. Now a proud owner of a 06 325I. I was hoping to find out what some reputible brands are for BMW. Like Spoon and Mugen are to Honda, what are some of the company's providing BMW with their quality products. Thanks in advance.

ha ha, another thread title that cracks me up if you take it out of context!
spoon EQUALS honda DIVIDED BY bmw anyways, yeah, definitely what chazmtb mentioned, Hartge, Dinan, Alpina, AC Schnitzer is something you should look into if you plan to mod.

are these companies from germany? Why would you knock the title? I was making a simple comparison. Do you know what spoon is to honda? or are you another internet gangsta, like the ones that flood Honda-tech.com.

What mods did you have on your 96 integra? Is it a LS? GSR? There are plenty reputational aftermarket brands for BMW, just like japanese scene. but things are WAY more expensive. Example, supersprint's exhaust system costs 5grand. and becareful with mentioning about hondas here, alot of bmw snobs don't treat japanese vehicles as cars but rather, "jap crap".

If you are looking for pure performance, I forgot to mention Active Autowerks. They are a company based in Miami that puts out really nice stuff. Mostly for the previous generation 3 series. They have a nice super charger for the M3 and previous generation 3 series. I bet they are developing the same for the E90. I had their exhaust and it's wonderful. Eisenmann (German) for exhaust is great. UUC, Rogue Engineering make great manual transmission parts, such as short shifters, light weight flywheel.
Modding for BMWs can get rather expensive, but if you are into spoon and mugen, money is no object because that stuff is expensive too. There are other companies that do force induction, like ESS and some other I can't remember. TechniK has some NA engine upgrades, such as cams. All in all, the BMW engine is very highly developed. You spend a lot of money to marginally increase HP. Most people do intake exhaust wheel and body kit upgrades. The suspension of the 3 series is set up wonderfully as it is. No need to make changes unless you go coil overs. |

Please keep this thread on-topic. SoCaLNaTiVe's question was to ask for BMW tuner names that are equivalent to Spoon for Honda. Let's not let this thread spiral into a Honda v. BMW, Japanese v. German argument. I've removed some posts to keep it on topic. Thanks.
To name a few major ones: Racing Dynamics AC Schnitzer Hartge Alpina Hamann Breyton |

Japanese car's can't be compared to European cars. They cost a shitload more to change a small ass thing. Mugen, Spoon, Hayame, Greddy, Apex all that is x5 less than Harge, ACS, Hamann, Breyton and all that. I too used to own a B16 00 Si. I'm not up with the money yet to fix up a European car. I might keep it stock, and buy an Evo IX or fix my E90 up. The wait is on until April!
