Injector activation short codes and low resistance readings
Hello folks,
So I'm having some issues with my D. It started with an intermittent hiccupping and limp mode caused by a 4bc4 code for injector 1 activation (short from high to low). I replaced the #1 injector and the car ran good for about 2 days and then started hiccupping again. I pulled the codes again and noticed that I now had activation codes coming up on almost all of the injectors intermittently except for the new one I had installed. So I pulled the intake and took resistance readings of all the injectors. The brand new injector reads 180K ohms like it should but all of the other 5 are much lower. And when taking the resistance reading the ohms climb very very slowly on my meter until they max out. The new injector is 180K ohms instantly. The max ohm readings on the other range from 50k ohms to 160k ohms. Looking like I'm going to have to buy 5 new injectors for this thing but I find it hard to believe that all 6 of my injectors failed at once. Is there anything known to go bad on these cars that can cause 6 injectors to fail? The car has just over 200k kms on it currently. thanks guys |

When I pulled my injectors to do Carbon Cleaning and had them tested, 2 failed the resistance testing as well around 100k miles....but not all... I would see if you can get them tested... check out my post about how to get them tested and where to get new ones

Not sure how you're testing them but I suggest three resistance measurements per injector.
1) Pin 1 to Pin 2 2) Pin 1 to ground (metal casing of injector) 3) Pin 2 to ground (metal casing of injector) I had an injector fail with almost a dead short from one of the pins (can't remember which one) to ground due to corrosion. The DDE current protection saved the injector drivers by shutting down the engine. |

Yep on my x5 5 and 6 got corroded due to the crap tastic plastic that cracks.
To ground from either pin should be infinite or whatever highest ohms you can read . My bad ones had 1000 ohm to ground and 200 to ground! |
