Differential lock down kit finally installed
I snapped several pics of today's installation. This is discussed over on the suspension forum but thought you guys might like to see how this came out on a 335D. I'm unsure how it will clear your exhaust pipe though. My exhaust is a customized version of a circuit werks kit. Enjoy and ask questions as i didn't cover step by step instructions for the install. The kit is supposed to prevent wheel hop and provide a 4th point of support of the diff to the sub frame.

Thanks. I took the less work route. The cover would have need to be removed to properly attempt the window cut. I'm pretty burnt out with all of the suspension work for 3 weeks straight.

I can't tell sh$t right now. I have changed so many things at once that I can't say what the lock down kit itself would do versus without. Go to that thread and see what others are saying. Not brushing you off, I just don't know. I can say that the D is pretty much point and shoot now :-D.
I installed M3 front wishbones, E92 M3 front sway bar, used my 335D end links as I set car to close to same ride height (I'm about 1/4" higher than sport suspension). Rear M3 guide rods, M3 upper arms, M3 lower camber links, E92 M3 rear sway bar, E9X M3 lowewr camber arms, Bimmerworld adjustable toe links with spherical bearings, Powerflex black subframe bushings, powerflex purple diff bushings, and last but not least Ground Control M3 conversion coil over kit. I got the kit that came without the lower camber arms. It was a whole bunch of work and yes I did it all on jack stands. Whitbread, I will come along for some of those coupons as I need to buy a machined part (EGR cooler hose aluminum plugs) and maybe the long throttle body eliminate pipe. I will say that the tail wiggle is not completely gone but almost. I thought the sub frame bushings would have fixed that. Last edited by BB_cuda; 07-24-2017 at 04:30 PM.. |

I have installed just this one single component after doing M3 bits front/rear, M3 rear bushings and M3 rear stabiliser bar along with new shocks just to get rid off the rear steer effect when on/off WOT... I even added rear toe-arms... and to cut the story short... this was the second greatest improvement after the bushings...
I highly recommend it .-)

What's the difference in this and Diff Support brace that is shown in a recent post?

I needed the type that allowed me to use finned diff cover. If using normal flat cover, either type will work.
Other thing is the “bottom screws” one has to use the central holes of rear subframe. I use those holes for my uhaul receiver hitch. |

He also have plates but i don't see how the plate (that bolts to the bottom two bolts) can hold diff from twisting better than this kit!??
Anyone have any opinions about plate?

I do recall seeing this too. I’ve looked around so many places that I can’t recall where that link is. I’ll post if I come across it.
