Spacer help

Hey guys
Just need a bit of advice. I just put a set of 19x8.5 VMR wheels on my E90 335i.
They sit in a bit more than my M-sport wheels.
Im wanting them to sit nice and a little wider. I was thinking 15mm front & 20mm rear spacers. Can anyone give me tips on fitment, where to buy them from?
Thanks in advance

BMS spacers are easy they come with bolts.

As for size, you need to measure

15 mm and 20 mm will probably be way too wide and cause rubbing imo
The method to measure what size spacers you need is provided below
Im running 10mm on the front and 5mm on the rears and the wheels are perfectly flush
You can usually pick up a set of spacers cheap on the aussie classified section of this forum
If you want a set of 15s I think I have a set you can have for $80
If you do go with anything over 10s you will need longer wheel bolts btw

I believe Hills Euro in Sydney stock BMS spacers, I purchase mine from BMS direct but was purchasing a lot of items at the same time.

I'm currently running 20mm front and rear but have had fenders rolled / flared and am running stock tyre sizes of 225 and 255

Like Socket said, you will probably rub badly with 15/20

if you havnt had any rolling done and especially if you have larger tyres than the factory size, I had this problem

With 235/265 Pilot super Sports on I could only run 12mm front and nothing in the rear.

I was thinking that. The tyres are only 225 front & 235 rear. Was thinking if i went 235 front and 265 rear it would fix the problem?

Depending on your actual offset, I remember reading that 10-12mm is the max you can safely use at the front without rubbing when you turn hard.

Also it starts making your steering much heavier the wider your track goes.

I'm running 10mm BMS spacers with extended bolts on the front. Because when I fitted 19" 313 wheels they went in a few mm compared to the 18" 287s. Thought that was strange considering the 313s were the 'sport' option

But not using any spacers on the rear, as the 313s came out by about 6mm compared to stock!

Following Socket's diagram above, you can hang a thread tied to a washer, from the inside of your guard, and then measure the lateral distance to edge of your tyre. But still be aware of the possible rubbing when turning left or right at full lock. Not sure how to predict that...

A good calculator to work out changes in track width, gaps, from wheel offset, etc, is http://www.willtheyfit.com/

cheers

Putting wider tyres doesn't help the stance in my opinion, the tyres might be more flush with the wheel, but the wheel with still be stuck inside the fender.

If you want to wheels to stick out more you need spacers.

Defo spacers, not wider tyres. But measure carefully...
