Tuning box which promises 368bhp on 335d

http://www.p-tronic.co.uk/index.php?...onFilter=29789

seems a hell of a lot for such a device?!

Thinking about it, its quite conceiveable actually, with tuning boxes people are getting over 400bhp with the 335i so why not this amount with a tuning box on the 335d?! Limp home mode may be a bit more common though?

You might be right, seems quite agressive, I noticed that you had experienced limp home at least once ? Is this due to the agressive map from DMS, or hard driving ? Has this been sorted now ?

740 nm is over the gearbox limits.

Pushing things a bit too hard I would say.

Hi Bob,

I experianced limp home mode 3 times in 24 hours after the 2nd map was put on after a service. The car drove home over 100 miles home fine!

DMS asked if i had been driving her hard, i said only as hard as i ever do. I said im doing nothing different. They tweaked the map and she has been impeccable since, with a Stint at bruntingthorpe where i did countless 160+ runs etc!

Have you got DMS to remove the limiter yet?

I had a look at P-Tronic, thier claims seem to be based purely on % increase i.e 20% to 30%, I am not sure how many people have actually tried thier stuff as limited information is available.

It can only adjust basic parameters so can't change any maximum settings or stop limp mode it has to work within the normal ranges of the ECU surely.

I would like to be proved wrong as it would certainly get around the warranty issue

It would be really cool if you could get back to that track again with her de-restricted to see what she would get up to.

Simon (E-Maps) told me that my limiter was lifted from 161 to 181mph, although I will never get a chance to test it.

Well thats different to what Simon told me!

A re-mapped 335d by DMS will do a Verified 175mph. E-maps one will do roughly the same, not any more though.

Because the E-maps ive seen have had similar power to my DMS but less torque which wont make it any faster but probably the same!

The limiter is set to 181mph, but that does not mean the car will do 181mph.

I am booked in with emaps for a remap on the 20th. This is the third car that he has done for me, and the top speed limiter is always raised to some unobtainable figure. I can't see why he would have told you any different.

As the others have said, I always remove the top speed limiter and thats what I advise when asked.

What I dont understand is why DMS dont remove the top speed limiter considering the price

I think their price is so high because of their 'warranty'
