How long do Michelin PSS last before they wear out?

I had my Michelin Pilot Super Sports now for about 2 years and put around 14k miles on them.

Last week when my shop did a courtesy inspection on the tires, the front ones are only about 1 mm away from the wear bar in the center.

The driving I do are mostly local and highway. They have been properly inflated and rotated.

For those of you that had Michelin PSS, how long/miles did yours last before you had to replace them?

My wife, who drives very conservatively, wore them out at 30,000 miles. She has a 2009 528i. I had wheels balanced and rotated every 5k miles. Air pressures are checked monthly, and kept at 32PSI front and 38PSI rear.

BTW, I now have Pilot A/S 3's on that car now.

I'm at 1.5 years. So that's about 15-18k miles?

Rears are almost to the wear bar, fronts still looks beefy! Note: I'm RWD. Tire pressure 34/37. No burn outs or launches, but hard cornering.

This happened with my Toyo Proxies 4 too, where the rears would wear our way faster. But those tires lasted me just a tad bit longer. 2.5ish years.

Interesting, my rears seem to wear out slower than my fronts?

Maybe I should get an alignment done for my front wheels to see if that's the reason for uneven wear?

Oh I didn't even read this part. But yeah, an alignment would be def help this.

Are you AWD?

I had them last a whee bit over 30k miles with more or less 80% relatively conservative daily driving (mainly highways) with the occasional pull/hard corner and 20% mountain runs/canyon carving. They had 2-3/32" thread left when I got my new wheel/tire combo (moved to their successor the PS4S). I think for ultra high performance summer tires, they have very good wear. I wasn't even following the rotation schedule (got lazy lol) and maybe rotated them two times in their lifetime (I guess better than nothing).

I'd say make sure your car is properly aligned, make sure they are inflated properly (I had mine at 37 PSI all four corners), and do the rotations (every 5k miles). I think you can definitely get 30k miles out of these tires. I am not sure why yours wore so fast? How much negative camber and toe do you have?

I had pss on my old e46 m3. Best tire I've owned, did some pretty hard driving on them and ended up selling the car after I put around 12k miles on mine and still had over 50% tread left on mine. Didn't get a chance to drive them till they were bald

Front ones are at 32 PSI, rears are 39 PSI.

I'm going to get an alignment on both front and rear wheels. Maybe the lack of rotations might have contributed to the rapid wear?

Exact same experience here. Nearing 2 year mark with about the same mileage and the rears are basically down to the wear indicators while the fronts still have at least 80% left.

I'll admit that I do quite a bit of hard launches and aggressive cornering though.

Question for both for you guys. How do you rotate staggered tire/wheel setup? Just swap it side to side?

Maybe? Tbh, I didn't really have a strict rotation schedule either. Did it twice in 30k miles (new --> 7k --> 25k). Alignment will definitely affect your tire wear dramatically. I would have it checked.

I ran a square setup 17x8 225/45R17 when I had the PSS. I now have square setup 18x9 245/40R18. I like the square setup because I am able to rotate plus I like the car having equal footing.

They last forever compared to what i'm use to. I normally run extreme performance tires like rs3, azenis, z2 and they normally last 10,000 miles. I now run the pss and its been like 15,000 miles and they still look new.

They have a warranty, depending on when you purchased yours. So you may want to check
6 Years / 30,000 Miles Half mileage for rear if different size than front
