Vrsf Continued........
So Saturday I finally had a mechanic installed my 7 inch VRSF intercooler and catless Downpipes. After getting home and driving the car later I turned on my AC and noticed that there was no cold air blowing and has not been blowing. I bought a recharging kit for the car attached everything correctly and applied connector to the low pressure while and followed the directions on the can. The gauge showed it was being transferred but after mins the gauged starting going down as if it the van was empty but it wasn't. Next thing I know there is smoke coming from the car. Once I stopped applying the freon it stopped smoking. I am under the assumption that somehow in the process of installing the intercooler my AC line has been nicked and will not hold any Freon. Anyone else experienced something similar. I told the mechanic and he said that he will look at it tomorrow but I have he's going to come with some bullshit and say he did nothing wrong and if that happens when I do get it fixed any idea how much it would probably cost?

I recently installed my VRSF 7.5 race intercooler which is MUCH larger than the 7in. I never came into contact or near an AC line at all.
I also did turbos which meant removing and reinstalling downpipes. Again, I never came near or in contact or had to mess with AC lines at all. Methinks either it was just a coincidence of bad luck with timing, OR, my preferred thought (since you said you already think your mechanic is going to "come up with some bullshit" you obviously don't fully trust him) that He either messed it up accidentially, or intentionally to get some extra repair work. Did you take it to a performance shop, an indie repair shop, or a shadetree 'buddy'? If it were a performance shop I'd be less likely to think they did anything wrong at all, if it was a 'buddy' I'd say perhaps he was a dummy and did it accidentially, and if it was an indie, I'd say they wanted some extra $$. How much did you pay for the install for everything? If they priced it too low, I've seen shady mechanics get mad or try and get some extra work out of stuff. |

Hey dude - check on the bov side near the pulleys. There is a pipe there that is super close to the intake piping that can rub if you repositioned anything. I had a leak in mine from pipes rubbing.

Did your intercooler come with the upgraded metal lower charge pipe? If so, you would be directly near that a/c line and could compromise it if it's a sloppy install. Can you find where the leak is at on the AC? |
