H&R lowerings springs
I have a non sport package. Will the H&R springs bring it a little closer to the SP ride height and feel.
I'm thinking of going with 19's also. From what I've seen it's looks like this combo would be OK or similar to SP with 19's. Any advice otherwise?? Does anyone know of a good shop to do the install of the springs in Houston,TX? Thanks |

No idea on shops in your area.
The H&R sports will drop you past the ZSP height. The ZSP drops you about .6 from non sports. The sports will drop you 1.3 or whatever it is from stock non-sports height. Danny

Thanks, I think that will be about right regarding the height.
I called a local shop and they wanted $370 for the springs and $400 for the install. I figured they would mark up the springs quite a bit so I didn't really plan on buying the springs from the shop but $400 for the install seemed kind of high too from what I've heard in other cities. Does anyone know what a fair price is for the install. I swear I saw someone getting them installed for around $350 including the cost of the springs, but that was in LA and I'm in Houston. Thanks for the help. |

that's quite a bit.
you should be able to get the springs for $250-300. in the bay area, the install would probably run $200-300, and we have really high labor rates in california. i'd shop around.

Regarding install price, it really is apples and oranges. It depends almost entirely the area in which you live. Here in California, you can get installs as cheap as $100 - $150 in LA. In Northern Cali, totally different story. I've been quoted from $330 including alignment to $450 not incuding alignment. I'm still looking!

Geography must make a difference. Houston is a big city with a lot of sport tuned cars so I would think there would be several places to get this done, I'm just having a hard time locating competent shops that do this. I've done several internet searches and I'm not coming up with much. I guess I'll have to keep asking around.
If I could get this done for $500 total I would be happy. Should any mechanic shop be able to do this? |

![]() Does anyone have any advice on changing the shocks when changing the springs? Is it necessary? It seems like it would be a good time to do it but I'd rather not if I didn't have to. Thanks |

If you have the zsp package, it's not that big of a deal because the zsp dampers are already calibrated for a lower rideheight compared to the non zsp. But even if you drop it with the H&R Sports or Pro-Kits, it's still .6 or so lower than the damper was designed to operate. If you can, I recommend buying dampers to go with the springs. This way, you pay for install only once, since the dampers come out for spring install anyways, and you will have a much better ride. Danny
