Rough Idle

Hello All, my car has ticked over 82,000 (2007 October E90 335) and I have noticed the idle is quite rough when I start the car.

Right's itself after about 3-5 seconds. I am guessing leaky injector(s) ?

thanks to any help offered. I am sure this has been done to death

No mate. Wasn't sure what the first steps were...

I noticed FC P E u r o has an ignition service kit.
I am running Stage 2 MHD, would this be the right one to get?

Having the same issue with error code P0172 (bank 1 too rich), engine rough only occurs first start of the day.
Plugs and coils changed, low fuel pressure sensor changed, PCV valve changed and walnut blasted.... all this was preventative maintenance.
Issue still persist. next step will be injectors replaced.
Will keep you updated

thanks Quadro. I will do Plugs and Coils first. If that doesn't fix it, Injectors. Might even just get them whilst I am in the US.

FYI the factory coils are made by Bosch so once you change out to Delphi you cannot mix & match coils.

I bought PN# 00044X6 for coils $121.99
PN # 0242140507 for plugs $40.14

About the same price but having the Bosch Coils gives me the option that if in future one goes bad I could throw one of the old factory ones back in.

Ok, good to know, thanks

Apart from compatibility, is there any other technical difference someone would run Delphi over Bosch?

I doubt that plugs and coils will fix it but it's something you should be doing anyway, it's good for ur stage 2 MHD.
Go straight to replacing injectors and get coded. doesn't matter what index you're getting, making sure you don't mix index 9 (and early) together with index 10 (and later) in 1 same bank

Mine does it as well, seems common on n54's to idle rough on cold starts even after blast, coils and plugs have been done.
Starts right away but idles rough for the first few seconds.

Indices are just revision numbers. Index 12 is the latest
Picture shown injector with index 11

Yeah, I know it does harm the car much in a way, but knowing it's there, it's bothering me...

If the injectors are failing you will get long cranks, black smoke on start up. You can also do a log and check the fuel trims on both banks to diagnose a bad injector.

Replaced Coils, plugs (NGK gapped), Index 12 injectors and walnut blast (plus a sneaky catch can ) and the start up idle has improved, but still bumpy.

Either way, the car run's so much smoother now on warm idle and in general driving. No break down's at all when I floor it (MHD 2 stage flash). Very happy with it, might have to learn to live with the slightly rough idle.

Was also very impressed with Hills Eurohaus new workshop.
